I whipped up this dish for myself in a jiffy and it was absolutely delicious! I used a 5 oz tuna steak and halved all the spice measurements. I only needed 0.5 oz of olive oil for the rub and cooked it in a nonstick pan (specifically, a copper fry pan). Surprisingly, I didn't need any extra olive oil for cooking! If you enjoy your steak pan-seared with a rare center, simply cook one side for 2-3 minutes and the other side for just 2 minutes. A quick and tasty meal!

Oh my goodness, that dish was absolutely scrumptious! This is the first time I've felt inspired to leave a comment on a recipe. I skipped the lemon due to dietary restrictions, yet it turned out fantastic regardless. I utilized the leftover drippings to create an additional sauce for the tuna, pureed spinach, and toast. Definitely a recipe worth holding onto. I'm looking forward to experimenting with different spices like cardamom or allspice in the future, and using this cooking technique with other types of fish. Next time, I'll reduce the cooking time by half as it turned out slightly overdone, but the flavorful spices saved the dish. I wish I could share a photo, but there's nothing left – it was just that good!

Great rub - thank you! Just a quick heads up regarding the cooking time recommendation of "3 minutes per side." If you're cooking a 1" tuna steak, following this timing at medium-high heat on the stovetop will likely result in a well-done steak, so be careful not to overcook it. I suggest aiming for 60-90 seconds per side if you prefer your tuna steak pink in the middle.
