Awesome Grilled Cheese Sandwiches Recipe
Original Recipe Yield: 9 servings
Ingredients
- 18 slices bread
- 4 tablespoons butter (or as needed)
- 9 slices Cheddar cheese
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450F (230C).
- Butter one side of 9 slices of bread and place them butter-side down on a baking sheet.
- Arrange one slice of cheese on each slice of bread.
- Spread butter on the remaining 9 slices of bread and place them buttered-side up on top of the cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes.
- Flip the sandwiches and bake for an additional 6 to 8 minutes, or until golden brown.

I tried making this recipe using King's Hawaiian rolls as I enjoy the combination of sweet and salty flavors. However, I found that the recommended temperature was too high for this type of bread. After 4 minutes, I lowered the heat to around 400-425 degrees, flipped it at 6 minutes, and cooked it for an additional 4-5 minutes. Next time, I plan to preheat the oven to 400 or 375 degrees and adjust accordingly. Nonetheless, I am pleased to have discovered this recipe as it provided me with a helpful starting point.

I followed the instructions and used 2 slices of cheese. I cooked the sandwich for 6 minutes on the first side and 3 minutes on the other side to avoid burning it. This was my first successful attempt at making a grilled cheese sandwich. It turned out delicious and was super easy to make. The best part is that I didn't have to wash any dishes, thanks to using foil and paper plates! Some reviewers suggested spreading the butter all the way to the edges to prevent excessive browning, as I found the edges of my sandwich a bit crispy. I'll keep that tip in mind for next time.

For the past six months, I have been preparing baked grilled cheese sandwiches and I am absolutely hooked. The rich golden brown color they get all over is a sight to behold. I highly recommend using stoneware for baking them; no need to flip them halfway through cooking. I enjoy experimenting with various cheeses that I slice off a block myself. The flavor is much fresher, and the possibilities are endless. My personal favorite combination is Grilled Swiss and cheddar.

As recommended by other reviewers, I followed the advice and spread butter only on the crust before baking. I preheated my oven to 400°F and baked the pizza for 1 minute with the oven door slightly open, then for 4 minutes closed, before flipping it and baking for an additional 5 minutes. The result was absolutely delicious - the crust came out super crunchy and flavorful. Highly recommend this technique!

This recipe is incredibly delicious and convenient! I managed to "grill" 12 sandwiches at once with ease. I followed the advice of another reviewer by leaving the top slice of bread off to ensure the cheese melted perfectly. I did get a bit anxious as the sandwiches were toasting slowly, so I turned on the broiler for the final toasting. It's worth noting that I used white bread, which is unusual for us, so now we have grilled cheese sandwiches for a couple of days. Overall, a fantastic recipe that I highly recommend!
