Sour Cream Burgers Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup sour cream
- cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Directions
Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, sour cream, bread crumbs, onion soup mix, and pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly using your hands until evenly blended.
Step 2: Cover the mixture and place it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 3: While the beef mixture chills, preheat your grill to medium heat and lightly oil the grill grate.
Step 4: Shape the beef mixture into 8 patties, ensuring they are evenly sized.
Step 5: Place the patties on the preheated grill. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until they are no longer pink in the center. For a perfectly cooked patty, an instant-read thermometer should read 160F (70C) in the center.

To start with, these were delicious, but overly moist. The consistency of the mixture was visibly wet, prompting me to shape it into meatballs instead of patties in the hope of better structural integrity. Unfortunately, even as meatballs, they disintegrated completely. I improvised by adding them to a marinara sauce, which actually improved the flavor significantly. Additionally, I experimented by incorporating a packet of ranch dressing (inspired by a previous recipe), and I truly believe it elevated the dish. If I were to prepare this again, I would consider using oatmeal instead of breadcrumbs to assist in maintaining their shape, increasing the meat content, or perhaps even both.

This recipe is simply amazing! I made a few changes since I didn't have any onion soup mix on hand, so I used regular onion powder instead. I also skipped the pepper and improvised a bit. Let me tell you, this is a burger recipe that I would gladly suggest to anyone. It turned out to be one of the juiciest burgers I've ever eaten. I prefer cooking mine in an electric skillet at a low temperature of around 250 degrees for about 2 to 3 minutes on each side, and the result is absolutely fabulous. This recipe has earned a permanent spot in my family cookbook.

For those looking to reduce calories (and earn points on WW), substituting zero-fat Greek yogurt is a great choice. It offers the same benefits while being much lower in fat content!

I will absolutely be making these burgers again! Normally, I struggle when making my own burgers unless I'm pan-frying them. My fiancé stated that these were the best burgers he has ever tasted! I decided to include an egg to assist in keeping them intact as some reviews mentioned that they tend to fall apart. Apart from that, I followed the recipe exactly. The burgers turned out moist and flavorful! Additionally, we have started experimenting with different seasonings based on our cravings. For instance, tonight we substituted Mexican seasonings for the onion soup mix in the recipe. The result was still incredibly delicious. The addition of sour cream truly enhances the juiciness of the burgers!

An alternative version of this dish that I prepare incorporates stuffing mix instead of bread crumbs along with various seasonings.

My boyfriend enjoyed it, but I found it to be just okay and not the best burger I've ever had or made.
