- Cooking spray
- 1 pound lean ground beef (at least 80% lean)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- cup Original Bisquick mix
- 2 large eggs
- teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400F (200C). Lightly coat a 9-inch glass pie pan with cooking spray.
Step 2: In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion. Stir occasionally until the beef is fully browned and crumbly, about 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 3: While the beef is cooking, whisk together the milk, Bisquick mix, and eggs in a small bowl until smooth.
Step 4: Drain the cooked beef and onion mixture. Transfer it to the prepared pie pan. Stir in the salt, sprinkle the shredded Cheddar evenly on top, and pour the Bisquick mixture over everything.
Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25 minutes, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

Here is the rewritten review: "I forgot the cardinal rule of trying out a new recipe: Always read reviews first! I followed the recipe exactly, except for adding a couple of minced garlic cloves. I realized it needed a bit of salt, even though I usually avoid it. The Bisquick mixture with milk and eggs turned out very runny. The final dish was somewhat bland, but a dash of ketchup helped. Although the Bisquick spread evenly, it tasted undercooked. The second time I made it, I reduced the milk to 1/3 cup and used 3 eggs. I layered half of the ground beef in the pie pan, then added cheese before adding the remaining meat. After baking for 20 minutes, I sprinkled more cheese on top and returned it to the oven to finish. I also remembered to add salt this time. It turned out perfectly! This dish has now earned a permanent spot in my meal rotation."

I have tried this recipe twice. The first time, my husband and I found it to be lacking in flavor. However, when I made it again last night, I decided to enhance it by adding extra onion, garlic, and sautéed fresh tomatoes from the garden. I also included pepper and a few dashes of Tabasco sauce. The result was a dish that was flavorful and absolutely delicious. This recipe is simple to follow, and by incorporating additional ingredients, you can customize it to your taste. I plan on making this for our church's upcoming drive-through meal giveaway, which will serve 100 people.

I followed the recipe instructions closely, with the only exception of incorporating 2 dashes of Tabasco and a minced garlic clove into the meat and onion mixture as it simmered. Since I utilized very lean beef, there was minimal excess fat to remove, so I omitted that step.

Oh yes! I sprinkled some garlic powder, added a hint of Worcestershire sauce, and the kids absolutely enjoyed it! Afterwards, I prepared another dish using smoked salmon seasoned with pepper. I cooked a red pepper and baby spinach in a pan, then layered them with green onions. I mixed southwestern style egg beaters with whole milk and it turned out fantastic! I topped both dishes with sharp cheddar cheese and used Jiffy baking mix. For a different variation, you can fill the pie pan with raw broccoli, microwave it, and then continue with the recipe. I also added bacon bits to that one.

This dish was simple and tasty once I added some extra ingredients. Originally lacking in seasoning, with only a hint of salt, I knew it needed a flavor boost to truly resemble a cheeseburger. To enhance the taste, I included garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, pepper, and ketchup. I paired it with fried pickles and a side salad.

I added a touch of powdered onion as my wife isn't particularly fond of fresh onions.

This dish is greatly enhanced if you enjoy pickles. I recommend taking a whole jar, chopping them up, and adding them to the mixture. I also included ketchup and mustard, which made it taste remarkably like a burger.
