One-Dish Chicken and Stuffing Bake Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cups boiling water
- 4 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 4 cups Pepperidge Farm Herb Seasoned Stuffing
- 6 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
- teaspoon paprika, or to taste
- 1 (10.5 ounce) can Campbell's Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
- cup milk
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
Directions
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400F (200C). Gather all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, combine the boiling water and butter. Stir until the butter is completely melted.
Step 3: Add the herb seasoned stuffing to the bowl with the melted butter mixture. Gently stir until the stuffing is fully combined with the liquid.
Step 4: Transfer the prepared stuffing mixture to the center of a 3-quart shallow baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Step 5: Arrange the chicken breasts around the stuffing. Sprinkle the chicken with paprika to taste.
Step 6: In a small bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup, milk, and chopped parsley. Pour this mixture over the chicken breasts.
Step 7: Cover the baking dish with a lid or foil and place it in the preheated oven.
Step 8: Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked and no longer pink in the center. The internal temperature should reach at least 165F (74C), measured with an instant-read thermometer.
Step 9: Once the chicken is cooked, remove the dish from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious chicken and stuffing bake!

This dish is what made my boyfriend REALLY love me when we first started dating... it's one of his favorite things for me to make, and it's so simple! For added flavor, I always sprinkle the chicken with Poultry Seasoning before covering it with the soup mixture, and I add a little bit of garlic powder, paprika and a dash of chili powder to the soup mixture to give it more "oomph". I almost always add shredded cheese to the top before popping it in the oven to give it some nice gooey, cheesiness. Tastes great with roasted red potatoes!!

This was great!! I followed some of the other reviewers and seasoned the chicken first with poultry seasoning, paprika and garlic powder; put the chicken in the pan first, then the soup and topped with stuffing. I also sauteed some onion and celery and added that to the stuffing (mixed the cubes and the pieces). Also used chicken stock in place of the water and the milk. Cooked at 350 for 40 min. All suggestions of other reviewers. I also made extra stuffing 6 cups instead of 4. Everybody loved it!!! Thanks for this great idea!!

My version started from the stuffing package that identical to this one. I melt the butter in large skillet and add diced celery and green onions. Then add 1.5 teaspoon of poultry seasoning. Pour two cups of broth into skillet. Spread stuffing in 9x13 and mix the skillet mixture into it. I’ve also added tarragon to the soup mixture too.

Loved the way the stuffing got very crispy in the middle of the pan and the chicken was tender cooking in the soup mixture. I sprinkled the chicken with Mrs. Dash garlic and herb seasoning and salt and pepper before pouring the soup over. Cooked for 40 minutes. Husband loved it too!

Loved this recipe. But like anybody a recipe unless it is a baked good can be changed. So I love Peperadge Farm Stuffing but I like to mix the cubed and the pieces just my preference. I also sauteed some onion and celery with the butter until softened and added chicken stock (not water) to the pot and brought to a boil. Because I don' like cream of mushroom soup I had some Campbell's chicken gravy and added stock not milk. And to add flavor to the chicken I sprinkled on some chicken seasoning (it is called Special I kid you not). And I cooked it for 40 minutes just to be sure since my chicken was still a little frozen. Was very good and I roasted some acorn squash to go with.

This was delicious! I read the reviews and used garlic powder and poultry seasoning on the chicken. I put the chicken in first, seasoned the chicken, topped with sliced provolone. I then added the soup mixture on top of the chicken. I also added about a teaspoon of minced garlic to the soup mixture. I sauteed onions and mushrooms and added to the stuffing mixture. I then added a few pats of butter on top of the stuffing. Covered and baked at 350 for 40 minutes. Easy and delicious!

Double the recipe for the stuffing, add fresh chopped broccoli on top of stuffing before adding chicken, paprika and mushroom 'sauce' to make this a complete meal with some veggies. Add lots of round pepper. Otherwise very good.

So easy and delicious. I did find that I needed to cook the chicken about 7 minutes longer. Fan fave!

For those saying it was mushy or soggy, did you use the Pepperidge Farm stuffing that the recipe suggests? Other brands have smaller bread cubes in them and for a recipe like this Pepperidge Farm holds up better. Great recipe, I sometimes add chopped celery and onion to the stuffing mix.

Very simple and satisfying dish. I did however use chicken broth in place of water and cream of chicken soup instead of mushroom. Added some poultry seasoning, a can of corn and French fried onions. Delish, my picky 4 year old devoured it. Win win in this house.

Omg, it was delicious. But, I added mushrooms, zucchini, 2 shivered long green onions. Celery w/celery leaves.

I used StoveTop stuffing mix, Savory Herb flavor. Also used thighs because I can never get breasts tender enough for our old teeth. Needs a little more flavor, so add more herbs & poultry seasoning too but no spicy stuff for us. Otherwise, great.

I seasoned and browned some boneless/skinless chicken thighs in a pan with butter, first, then removed those and sauted onion and celery for the stuffing. I also used some of each of the cream of mushroom and cream of chicken. Delicious!

Makes me happy just to see the recipe! I use chicken thighs. Adjust to what’s in the cupboard. Always buy extra stuffing cubes during holidays so I can make it later on.

Awful. Even with extra seasoning and browning the chicken it was incredibly bland!

I used cream of chicken instead. I do not like mushrooms. Turned out very good!
