Air Fryer Sesame Chicken Thighs Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 2 pounds chicken thighs
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
Directions
Step 1: In a large bowl, combine the sesame oil, soy sauce, honey, sriracha, and rice vinegar. Stir well to mix the ingredients.
Step 2: Add the chicken thighs to the bowl and toss them in the marinade until they are evenly coated.
Step 3: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the marinating chicken for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
Step 4: Preheat your air fryer to 400F (200C) for 5 minutes.
Step 5: Once the chicken has marinated, remove it from the bowl, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Arrange the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket with the skin-side up.
Step 6: Cook the chicken for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, flip the chicken over and cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the chicken reaches a golden, crispy texture and is cooked through.
Step 7: Once the chicken is done, transfer it to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Step 8: Garnish the chicken with chopped green onion and toasted sesame seeds for a fresh, flavorful finish.

I added a tablespoon of garlic powder to the recipe and it was a hit with everyone who tried the chicken thighs. Next, I plan to marinate chicken breasts overnight and see how they turn out.

I adapted the recipe by using tenderloins and found that they only required 5 minutes on each side in the air fryer at 400 degrees. The result was absolutely delicious!

Rewritten review: The dish turned out to be tender and moist with delicious flavors. I followed my air fryer's recommendation and cooked it at 360 degrees for 20 minutes. Despite marinating for only 30 minutes, it was still delicious. This recipe is perfect for a quick and easy weeknight meal!

This dish was absolutely delicious! I couldn't resist opening the air fryer from time to time to pour extra sauce over it. I wish I could share a picture because it was that good!

The chicken, despite marinating for over 3 hours, lacked flavor and needed more salt. I probably won't attempt this recipe again. Unfortunately, my second try yielded similar results. It's definitely going on my "do not make" list.

The chicken lacked flavor and the sauce was too watery. It was cooked in the oven covered, instead of using an air fryer.

The chicken turned out undercooked according to the recipe, with the ends of the bones still oozing bright red blood. Our dinner was ruined because of timing issues.
