Ingredients

This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.

Original recipe (1X) yields 4 servings:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 cups rotini pasta
  • 1 (28 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
  • 1 (14 ounce) can chicken broth
  • cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese, or to taste

Directions

  1. Heat a high-sided 12-inch skillet with a lid over medium heat.
  2. Add ground turkey, onion, and garlic. Cook and stir until turkey is browned, about 8 minutes.
  3. Season with oregano, garlic powder, and basil. Stir in rotini until well combined.
  4. Pour in the pasta sauce and broth, making sure the rotini is completely covered.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and cook until the rotini is tender yet firm to the bite, about 7 to 10 minutes.
  6. Top with Parmesan cheese and serve.

This was a very good recipe. I didn’t have fresh oregano, so I used dry. I also didn’t have fresh grated Parmesan, so I used the refrigerated kind. I used three very large garlic cloves and half a large yellow onion. I used 2 and a half cups of chicken broth and a random spaghetti sauce I had in the fridge. I added the dry pasta after adding the spaghetti sauce and chicken broth. It came out soooo good. My husband had seconds. It was super tasty. The pasta absorbed all the delicious liquid. I signed in just to review this recipe. I will definitely be making it again.

I love one pot pasta meals! This was easy to make and I will use again. Instead of ground turkey I used ground sweet Italian sausage. I added 2 tablespoons of a mix between olive oil and a garlic flavored virgin olive oil blend to the pot before I browned the sausage. While I was browning the sausage I included minced garlic, onion powder, garlic powder (I love extra garlic flavoring) a little bit of cooking salt, about a table spoon of dried Italian seasoning blend and some black pepper. I used a basil flavored pasta sauce. I was happy with this recipe. I did not prepare the family sized portions. I had a pound of the ground sausage and used about 9oz of gigli pasta. I believe you can adjust the pasta size depending on the pasta shape. This was my first try at this recipe and I could have added a bit more of the pasta. It was delicious-thank you for this recipe!

Tasted amazing! I made a GF version with Jovial brown rice farfalle and Kettle & Fire bone broth instead of the chicken stock. Will definitely make it again.

Super easy stovetop recipe that is a great base for flavor customization. I used a Garlic & Basil tomato sauce, added a pinch of crushed red pepper, and a tablespoon of my favorite salt-free blend (Justice from Penzeys!). Simple and savory; perfect for a weeknight.

Absolutely delicious meal that I make with the ingredients listed, but I add 4 cups of frozen vegetables. I work at an elementary school, and this dish is simple, easy to prepare and fabulous after a challenging day at work. I highly recommend!

Nice and easy. I added a shredded carrot with the onion, then at the end added a few handfuls of baby spinach and half a round of Boursin soft cheese. Yum!

Used a 24oz jar of pasta sauce and a 14.5oz can of reduced-sodium chicken broth as this is what I had on hand. I added a little extra water...probably around 4-6oz. I used minced garlic and all dried herbs (didn't have fresh oregano so I used about 1 tbsp of dried oregano). I did omit the added garlic powder as I thought it had plenty of minced garlic. It was like a cross between spaghetti with meat sauce only with rotini noodles and hamburger helper! This was a much less processed version though. I would definitely recommend and make it again as a quick on the fly kinda meal. Kid approved!!

I made this recipe as written using gluten free rotini for a quick practice night dinner. My family ate the entire pan and there were no leftovers. I will note for those making the recipe, the spaghetti sauce you use plays an important role. I used homemade sauce I make using my garden tomatoes.

Very quick, easy, and tasty dinner with leftovers. Will be preparing it again when I'm crunched for time. I added both parmesan and sharp cheddar cheese at the end of the cook and it was great.

This is excellent! I used Dave's organic Heirloom tomato jarred sauce, and red onion instead of yellow. Unfortunatley, the 1 yellow onion I had was rotten. I normally don't like using jarred sauce in my cooking but this turned out amazing! I will make this again in a crunch.

I used orzo pasta and added a small bag of frozen mixed veggies-so good! I also make my own spaghetti sauce with no salt tomato sauce and diced tomatoes! Next time I'm using up some canned chicken!

It was just ok. It was easy to make, but flavors were just meh. My teenage son gave it 2 thumbs up.
