Air Fryer Chicken Katsu Recipe

Air Fryer Chicken Katsu Recipe

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • pound chicken breast cutlets
  • Avocado oil cooking spray
  • 1 tablespoon barbecue sauce (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions (optional)

Directions

Step 1: Preheat your air fryer to 400F (200C) according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Step 2: In a shallow bowl or small casserole dish, lightly beat the egg and salt together.

Step 3: On a separate plate, spread out the panko bread crumbs. Dip each chicken cutlet into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip back into the bowl.

Step 4: Coat the cutlets in the panko bread crumbs, ensuring both sides are well-covered. Gently press the cutlets into the crumbs for a better coating.

Step 5: Place the coated cutlets on a piece of parchment paper. Lightly spray both sides with avocado oil cooking spray.

Step 6: Arrange the cutlets in the air fryer basket. Air-fry for 5 minutes, then flip the cutlets and air-fry for an additional 4 minutes.

Step 7: Once done, remove from the air fryer and serve with barbecue sauce, if desired. Garnish with chopped green onions for extra flavor.

Recipe Tip

For a different twist, try using tonkatsu sauce instead of barbecue sauce, or any dipping sauce of your choice.

I decided to sprinkle some lemon pepper on them the second time I made them. They turned out incredibly juicy on both occasions!
