Garlic and Herb Pull Apart Bread Recipe

Garlic and Herb Pull Apart Bread Recipe

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray
  • cup butter, melted
  • 7 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons dried parsley
  • 2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated biscuit dough

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Lightly coat a fluted tube pan (like a Bundt pan) with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, chopped garlic, dried parsley, crushed rosemary, and dried basil.
  3. Separate the biscuit dough into individual biscuits. Dip each biscuit into the butter-herb mixture, ensuring it's well-coated.
  4. Place the dipped biscuits in a random pattern inside the prepared tube pan.
  5. Pour any remaining butter-herb mixture over the biscuits in the pan.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Once baked, carefully invert the pan onto a cutting board. The bread should fall out in one piece.
  8. To serve, simply pull the bread apart into individual pieces and enjoy!

Editor's Note

If you'd like to make pulling the bread apart easier, you can quarter the biscuit dough pieces before dipping and placing them in the pan.

I love making this dish occasionally to pair with spaghetti or ravioli for dinner. It's fantastic because it disappears quickly and even little ones can join in to help prepare it. For an extra touch, I recommend sprinkling a bit of Parmesan cheese on top before baking and once you flip it onto a serving plate.

This recipe is definitely a keeper! I made a few tweaks for convenience and personal taste - I used 1 tsp. garlic powder, 1 tsp. oregano, and 1 tsp. basil instead of the original spices, as I'm not a fan of rosemary. Due to a shopping error, I ended up with larger cans of Pillsbury Grands, so I had to adjust the baking time to 30-35 minutes in a Bundt pan. I really liked the idea of layering Parmesan cheese and plan to do that next time. I also suggest serving marinara sauce on the side for dipping - delicious addition!

These turned out pretty good, although I believe I didn't add enough garlic because we absolutely adore garlic in our dishes. I only added 2 cloves at the end that were plain because one person in our group has a mild garlic allergy. Since I didn't have canned biscuits, I ended up making a double batch of the AR Easy Biscuits recipe. I also included around 2 teaspoons of granulated garlic to the flour mixture. (The garlic allergy is quite minor.) For the next time, I will either add more flour to the recipe or opt for canned biscuits as the homemade ones took quite a while to cook through. Nevertheless, my husband thought they were worth the extra cooking time.

I prepared this recipe on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, and my verdict is that it was "okay." I decided to reduce the amount of garlic used from 7 cloves to 5, but kept everything else the same. In the future, I plan to also reduce the amount of herbs. I followed the author's suggestion to cut the biscuits into quarters. However, when I turned the bundt pan upside down to release the bread, half of the little pieces fell onto the floor. For the next time, I will make sure to press down on the pieces of dough so they stick together more securely. Overall, it's a good recipe, just needs a few adjustments to better suit my preferences. - Michael

Savory and simple to prepare. I highly recommend watching the video and cutting the biscuits into quarters for easier enjoyment.
