Original recipe (1X) yields 6 servings
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6 ounces spaghetti
- 2 large eggs
- cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- cup chopped green bell pepper
- 1 cup chopped tomatoes
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- teaspoon salt
- teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Grease a 10-inch pie plate or springform pan.
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Stir in 1 tablespoon of oil and 2 teaspoons of salt. Cook the spaghetti in the boiling water-oil mixture, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain and transfer the cooked spaghetti to a large bowl.
- Mix the eggs, Parmesan cheese, and butter into the spaghetti until well combined. Press and shape the mixture into the prepared pie plate to form the crust.
- Spread the cottage cheese evenly over the crust.
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and green bell pepper. Cook and stir until the beef is fully browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, teaspoon salt, and garlic powder. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Spread the beef mixture over the cottage cheese layer in the pie plate.
- Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top and continue baking until the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown, about 5 to 10 more minutes.

Delicious recipe that is simple to prepare and can be customized to suit individual preferences. I tried substituting riced cauliflower for spaghetti in the crust, making it gluten-free and suitable for a Keto diet.

I give this recipe five stars because, with a few tweaks suggested by other reviewers, it turned out to be a fantastic and simple base recipe. I decided to use it to repurpose the leftovers from our spaghetti dinner earlier in the week. I utilized the cooked plain spaghetti as a crust, combined cottage cheese with ricotta, added the leftover spaghetti meat sauce, and topped it all off with the remaining grated mozzarella from our pizza night. Every ingredient in this dish had been cooked, mixed, or shredded from dinners earlier in the week. It was a brilliant way to transform my leftovers into a delicious meal! Thank you!

This recipe is absolutely delightful! It's also a breeze to whip up. I opted for a thicker 'crust' and threw in some mushrooms into the sauce. I will definitely be making this again!

The dish turned out perfectly and the flavor was incredible. Even though we omitted the green pepper, it didn't detract from the overall deliciousness of the meal. A recipe definitely worth keeping in mind!
