This is a great base for a slow cooker turkey chili. If you omit the red pepper flakes and replace one can of the tomato soup with a can of tomatoes with green chilis, this recipe is VERY kid friendly. When I want a more spicy version (I love spicy food!), I only add between 1/4 and 1/2 teaspoons of the red pepper flakes. An entire teaspoon simmering all day in a slow cooker will blow out your sinuses! In addition to the black beans, I also used both dark and light red kidney beans to make it more festive. This recipe is a keeper in my recipe box. Thanks!

I wish I could give this recipe more than 5 stars! Absolutely delicious! I took the advice of some others and only added 1 can of tomato soup, but also put in 2 cans of diced tomatoes. We like spicy food so I added some diced green chiles and a couple of chopped jalapeno peppers. My husband HATES ground turkey, but he had seconds of this chili. Thanks so much for a healthy recipe that tastes like its not! I could seriously eat this twice a week and not get tired of it... YUMMY!!!

This is a very simple and delicious recipe to make. I've made it with turkey, beef, bison, and venison and it turned out great every time. I think the next time I'm going to try elk. I wouldn't be a proper reviewer if I didn't make some changes to fit my own taste. lol I like a chunky, hearty chili. So this is what I changed, instead of 1 lb of meat. I use 1.5 lb and that works out better for me. Instead of the tomato soup, I use one 28-oz can of Red Gold whole peeled tomatoes. I dump them in and then I use my wooden spoon to crush them against the side of the pot. Some may choose to add some water, but I don't. Other than that, I keep everything the same. *Pro tip: If your chili comes out too soupy. Use a potato masher to crush up some of the beans, but not all. This will thicken up your chili pretty good. This recipe was a hit! I used diced tomatoes as suggest instead of tomato soup and added about 4 cups of water about half way through when I realized how thick it was going to be. I also cooked the onions with the turkey burger and added about a tablespoon of fresh minced garlic. Lots of flavor and Very filling. This is my new Fav!

I have made this turkey chili so many times, and we love it. I will admit to using tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes instead of soup. Today I am changing it up and using stew beef instead of the turkey. Fingers crossed!

2 tsp chili powder instead of 2 tbsp. Cooked turkey with onion and garlic together and diced red bell pepper. Added some corn. Did not add red pepper flakes either. Used 1 can diced tomatoes and 1 can tomato sauce with 4 oz green chili peppers.

I sautéed the onion with the turkey with an addition of one pablona pepper. Fresh garlic until fragrant as well. I used 2 cans of tomato soup and added a can of rotel and a can of green chili peppers. I also added 2 Bay leaves. Turned out fantastic!!! I have been making this recipe for 10+ years. Even made as is, with no changes my family liked it. Over the years, I started browning the onions and adding fresh garlic while browning the turkey meat. I am not a big fan of tomatoes, which is why I never tried to crushed tomatoes as others have. I had a happy accident once when I had everything but was missing 2 tomato soups. But, I had a jar of pizza sauce and added it. Now I always replace 1-2?can(s) of tomato soup for a jar of pizza sauce. (I think it’s the oregano and extra garlic that elevates it for me). No one ever believes I made this chili with canned soup (I get the heart healthy ones to reduce sodium intake). I make the 2x recipe with 3lbs of turkey meat 85/15 instead of 2.

I basically followed the recipe, using Healthy Request tomato soup, some white beans for some of the kidneys, and only 1/8 tsp ref pepper flakes. I cooked it 6 hours on low and it is a good thing I checked as it was already dry and crusting to the sides of my cooker which I had sprayed. I added sweet chili sauce and chicken broth to make it an edible consistency. Maybe I need a new crockpot but I was a bit suspicious after precooking the turkey and not adding liquid. It was quick and easy to make and ok after the tweaks.
