I REALLY liked this! It's a great recipe for ground turkey if you don't want it to taste like turkey--it tastes just like chili. My only suggestion would be to be wary of how much cayenne pepper you put in. I used the called for amount and it was too 'hot' for my son. I'll definatly make this again.

This chili was perfect for a cold night. While I cooked the turkey meat, I added the onions and garlic. I didn't mash the kidney beans and added a can of black beans and corn. Instead of water, I used chicken broth. You have to tweak this recipe to your liking with the spices.

Great recipes with these adjustments. Sauteeed chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil. Then added ground turkey. Cooked with a montreal dry steak seasoning I use with turkey. Added in a little extra tomatoes, left out water & chili powder, added double the cumim, and two tablespoons of brown sugar. Simmered for 2 hrs (checking taste and adjusting seasonings slightly if needed) and served with shreded cheese and crackers for friends and my son. Was *gone* and had recipe requests afterwards. I so adore this site!

I realized pretty soon after adding 2 cups of liquid that was too much so I drained much of that before simmering the chili for 30 mins or so. I would recommend adding only 1 cup of liquid - I used chicken broth, I think water would be too bland. I think a bottle of beer would work perfectly and I'll do that in lieu of broth next time. As per another commentor, I added 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. I also added a dash of cinnamon. I did not have cayenne so I added 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes and a few dashes of Tabasco and a dash of Worcestershire. I added the spices to the turkey, onion, and garlic mix before adding the beans, tomatoes, and liquid. I find that brings out the flavor of the spices more. I also wonder if adding a tablespoon or two of tomato paste might add next time. I used two cans of diced tomatoes as I didn't have crushed. Having said all of that, I thought the flavor was delicious and actually preferred it to other beef chilis I have made in the past. The bland turkey absorbs the flavors better so you really taste the spices versus beef. I served this over Goya yellow rice and topped some grated cheddar, a dollop of sour cream, pickled jalepenos and a few TJs corn dipper chips. This will be my go-to recipe going forward! Looking forward to leftovers tomorrow. Yum!

I cooked 1 large onion in olive oil until tender, then added 3 lbs of ground turkey and 3 tbsp of minced garlic and cooked till turkey was browned. I drained this and returned to pot. I added 2 cups of low sodium chicken broth. 1 28oz can of crushed tomatoes, 1 jar of tomatoes from the farm that I diced, 2 - 4 oz cans of mild diced chilies, 3 cans of rinsed beans - 1 black beans, 1 of each dark and light kidney beans which I lightly took a masher to. Lastly I added all the spices of which I tripled each. I cooked covered for 30 mins on low. Then increased heat to med -low and cooked covered for 10 mins more stirring it regularly till it thickened up. It was slightly too spicy for my daughter, but perfect for everyone else.

Changes from recipe: added half a bell pepper at onion stage. Used light red kidney beans (forgot to mash). Added 1 T brown sugar once the liquids were added, plus 1 t of worstershire sauce and 2 t soy sauce toward the end to deepen the flavor. Good on day one, outstanding as leftovers after the flavors combined.

Thanks to two previous commenters, I DID NOT ADD 2 CUPS OF WATER! I only added 1 cup of chicken broth and it came out perfect - chunky...but definitely not soupy. Lovely blend of spices - warm but not too hot.

So easy! I made some tweaks though. I used leftover frozen turkey burger patties as my base and added a green bell pepper when the onions went in. Also I used chicken broth instead of water, mashed only 1/2 of the kidney beans and added a can of black beans as well. I simmered it for around 2 hours to thicken it up. Delicious!

This was great with some tweaks. Per the notes, I added a chopped bell pepper and sautéed it with the onion until soft, then added the turkey, and used chicken broth instead of water. I’d probably use less broth since it was a tad soupy. Probably go with 1 1/2 cups instead of 2 cups. Finally, I cooked it all in a pot as directed but after the simmering, I transferred it to a Crock Pot on low for 6 hours. Came out awesome!

I made this but adjusted some things. I added a tsp of brown sugar and about a teaspoon of rice vinegar. I only used a cup of water and also added diced tomatoes. I forgot to get Turkey at the store so I used ground beef instead. I also went crazy and added about a cup of diced carrots. I cooked it for more like an hour and it turned out pretty good. And I actually followed the spice measurements, which I usually don’t.

Similar to my chili recipe but I do not add water. I do add a 15 ounce can of diced tomatoes and a chopped green pepper. I do not drain or mash the kidney beans and I add them at the very end so they stay firm.

Okay so I already have my own recipe but I decided to google turkey chili recipes to get an idea of how others are making their turkey chili and this recipe was almost spot on with mine! The difference in mine over this recipe is I did not add paprika, cayenne pepper or oregano. I used all the other spices and in my recipe, in addition to tomatoes and kidney beans, was corn and chicken stock. Will definitely be adding those 3 extra seasonings from this recipe as the flavors mixed can provide a great outcome than the spice alone.

My chili turned it very tomatoey. I didn't mash the kidney beans and added a can of whole kernel corn. We served it over rice /or cornbread which really complimented the chili. If I make it again I'll cut the tomatoes by 1/3 and add another 1/2 to 1lb of turkey.
