How to Make Chicken Burgers
Follow these simple steps to prepare your homemade chicken burgers:
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Start by gathering all the ingredients. This ensures that you have everything at hand when you start the cooking process.
Step 2: Mix the Chicken Mixture
In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, 1/4 cup of the bread crumbs, grated onion, egg, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir everything together until well mixed.
Step 3: Shape the Patties
Wet your hands slightly and take about 2 tablespoons of the chicken mixture at a time. Shape it into oval-shaped patties. You should aim for about 4 patties total.
Step 4: Coat the Patties
Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of bread crumbs in a shallow dish. Gently coat each patty in the crumbs, making sure they are evenly covered.
Step 5: Cook the Patties
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet. Cook them for 5-6 minutes on the first side until golden and well-browned.
Step 6: Flip and Cook the Other Side
Flip the patties and cook them for another 3-4 minutes on the other side, until they are browned and cooked through.
Step 7: Serve and Enjoy!
Once the chicken burgers are cooked to perfection, remove them from the skillet and serve them on your favorite burger buns. Add toppings like lettuce, tomato, and your favorite condiments. Enjoy!

History and Origins
The concept of chicken burgers dates back to the early 20th century when ground poultry began to emerge as an alternative to beef in the United States. I’ve made this recipe a few times. Parties never fully cooked through in the pan. Tried partially frying and then baked them at 350. I finally figured out the best way—just bake. Grease the baking sheet and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Patties were perfect and not at all greasy.

We loved it!! I made some slight mods though. I didn't love the idea of grated onion instead I added onion powder about 1tsb, then I chopped up some green onion and Red pepper very finely and added that. I already had 2lbs of Chicken out so I doubled the recipe but only added one whole egg and one egg white. They were absolutely delicious. I cooked 5 and froze the other 3, but now I wished I had cooked all 8. We will definitely be keeping this little gem for another time.

This is a very good recipe. I also mixed up 2 fresh minced garlic cloves with 3 tblsp of olive oil and 1/2 tsp of Italian herbs then lightly brushed the oil mixture on top of burgers. Baked in the oven at 400 degrees for approx 25 min. Served on Italian burger buns with swiss cheese ,lettuce and tomatoes and choice of condiments. Love it!

I added extra italian seasoning and parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs before using both in the recipe and to bread the burgers. Really gave it extra flavour!

I made this in my air fryer. I sprayed them with olive oil then air fried them at 375 degrees for about 10-12 minutes without turning. Cook to at least 165 degrees. I served mine with mashed potatoes and chicken gravy. They will also be great on a bun with lettuce, tomatoe and mayo etc.

I added a heaping teaspoon of Stacey's Hamburger Seasoning (the recipe is also on this site) to the burger mixture. I also let the mixture rest for a few minutes burger mix before forming into patties. These patties were not bad--I think the added seasoning helped them. These were extremely economical and simple to make.

Before seeing this recipe I used the exact recipe I use for making my Italian meatballs and the only differences between that recipe and this one is,I used a 1/4 cup of milk and fresh parsley. Also, I don't bread them. The next time I make them I'll add some sort of heat factor. I pattied mine up the day before and allowed the flavors to marinate. #Yum

Made these tonight and they were amazing! I used regular style Italian breadcrumbs for the mixture but for the exterior coating- I actually used panko for some extra crunch! Other subs I made: I added some Tuscan seasoning & jarred pesto to the mixture (apx 2 tbsp pesto). Omitted the fresh garlic. I used avocado oil for the cooking step. Turned out amazing!

I used a little panko with lemon pepper I had on hand. I did add an extra 1/4 cup of panko to stop from the wetness. Very good recipe. I would make again. All the onion adds a good crunch! Served on onion rolls with some spicy mustard, red onions, and pickles!

We usually make turkey burgers but ground chicken breast was on sale this time — so I decided to try this recipe. They were the best burgers we have had in years! The only change I made to the recipe was to not use breadcrumbs but instead to use ground up crackers. The grated onion makes all the difference. I put in a little bit of fresh parsley and they were heavenly!

I was hoping to improve on the chicken burger recipe I improvised from a passed down family homemade beef burger recipe. This is almost the exact same, I used a bag of saltine crackers with 4lb ground chicken. Added salt pepper garlic powder and onion soup mix and a couple eggs and made 12 burgers. Could've pan fried or oven baked but I felt like bbqing. Was a huge hit for a large family who all have different tastes and we survived dinner for another night lol.

I did add parmesan cheese to the breading. Just a little extra taste since we do not use sliced cheese. Best recipe ever.

Loved the chicken burgers! Easy and quick to put together. Followed recipe, but baked them as others suggested. Could you use ground chicken breast instead of regular ground chicken for this recipe??

I made this exactly as written. It was an experiment since I had never used ground chicken before. The burger was very tasty. I was surprised at how moist and runny the patties were before cooking. I was worried. But they dried and firmed when cooked.
