Grandma's Fresh Apple Cake Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apple
  • cup chopped walnuts
  • cup raisins

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Grease and flour a small fluted tube pan.

Step 2: Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Set the mixture aside.

Step 3: In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, egg, and vegetable oil.

Step 4: Gradually stir in the sifted dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Step 5: Gently fold in the chopped apple, walnuts, and raisins.

Step 6: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Cooks Note

You can substitute dates for raisins and choose any variety of chopped nuts you prefer for this recipe.
