Monkey Tails Recipe
Ingredients
- 10 popsicle sticks
- 5 very ripe bananas, peeled and halved crosswise
- 1 (16 ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 10 tablespoons flaked coconut, or as needed
Directions
- Insert one popsicle stick into the cut ends of each banana. Arrange them on a baking sheet lined with wax paper. Freeze the bananas for about 2 hours, or until frozen.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and butter. Microwave the mixture in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted. This should take 1 to 3 minutes, depending on your microwave.
- Once the bananas are frozen, dip each one into the melted chocolate, ensuring they are fully coated. If needed, spoon additional chocolate over them to cover completely. Afterward, roll the bananas in flaked coconut.
- Place the chocolate-covered bananas back onto the wax paper-lined baking sheet. Return them to the freezer and allow them to freeze until the chocolate is firm.
Cook's Note:
If you want to add extra decoration, you can drizzle white chocolate on top. To do this, melt 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl, using the same method as above (30-second intervals, stirring after each). Once melted, transfer the white chocolate to a small plastic bag, cut the tip, and drizzle it over the frozen chocolate-covered bananas. Place them back in the freezer until the chocolate hardens.
