Ingredients

This recipe yields 12 servings.

For the Crust:

  • 1 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • teaspoon salt
  • cup cold butter
  • 2 teaspoons water

For the Chocolate Ganache:

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Follow these steps to create your delicious chocolate ganache tart.

  1. Prepare the crust: Combine the flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Pulse until everything is well-mixed.
  2. Add the cold butter to the food processor and pulse until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Slowly add water to the mixture, continuing to pulse until the dough starts to come together.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven: Set the oven to 425F (220C). Grease an 8-inch tart pan with a little butter.
  6. Roll the dough: On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a 10-inch disc using a floured rolling pin.
  7. Assemble the tart shell: Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough into the prepared tart pan. Trim any excess dough from the edges.
  8. Prepare the dough for baking: Use a fork to prick holes along the bottom and sides of the dough to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
  9. Bake the crust: Place the tart shell in the oven and bake for 20 to 23 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned. Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool completely for about 1 hour.
  10. Make the chocolate ganache: Pour the heavy whipping cream into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 2 minutes, or until small bubbles begin to form around the edges of the bowl.
  11. Add the chocolate chips to the hot cream. Let it sit for 15 to 20 seconds, then whisk until the ganache is smooth and glossy.
  12. Assemble the tart: Pour the chocolate ganache into the cooled tart crust, spreading it evenly.
  13. Let the ganache cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or until it has set.
  14. Refrigerate: Once the ganache has set, keep the tart refrigerated until ready to serve. This will help the ganache maintain its smooth and rich texture.
