  • cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 slices white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • cup brown sugar, packed

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C). Grease a 6x10 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat the eggs into the butter-sugar mixture, adding one egg at a time, and ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Stir in the bread cubes and the drained pineapple. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the mixture for added sweetness and texture.
  7. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the bread points on top are golden brown.
  8. Remove the dish from the oven and allow it to cool before serving.

This dish is truly delightful and is sure to impress your guests. I must admit, the first time I prepared it, I followed the recipe as directed and although it was delicious, it appeared a bit plain. The next time around, I decided to add 2 extra eggs and 2 more slices of bread than called for. The result was outstanding - not a single bite left! It was a huge success!

Delicious! I had leftover crushed pineapple to use up, so I gave this recipe a go. I adjusted the ingredients for half the portion size, except for the bread - I used three full slices. Following the photos, I baked individual servings in small baking cups. It yielded 4 portions and took around 40 minutes to bake. I started at 325 degrees and raised it to 350 for the final 10 minutes. The result was fantastic! The only tricky part is categorizing this recipe. Is it a dessert, bread, breakfast, or side dish? Well, it fits perfectly for all four!

I made this French toast with 6 eggs, 8 slices of white sandwich bread, half a teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 cup of white sugar, some brown sugar, and a sprinkle of brown sugar on top. My family absolutely loved it! It was my first attempt at making French toast this way, and I plan to stick with my adjustments. Next time, I'll cook it a bit longer as it turned out a tad too mushy for my taste.

I accidentally mixed both the white and brown sugar together, but surprisingly, the end result was incredibly tasty. I topped it off with a sprinkle of extra brown sugar, a few maraschino cherries, and added a dash of vanilla and a pinch of cinnamon to the batter before baking. Delicious outcome!

I enhanced the dish with the addition of orange zest, using 6 slices of bread for maximum flavor. Absolutely fantastic!

I couldn't resist diving right into this dish without letting it cool first, and boy, am I glad I did! The aroma was absolutely amazing, and the flavor was out of this world. The perfect balance of crispy top and bottom layers with a heavenly soft center. I adore bread pudding, but this felt like a delightful fusion of Bread Pudding and Cobbler. It was a delicious combination that I will definitely make again. Thank you for sharing such an incredible recipe!
