This rich and indulgent chocolate rum Bundt cake combines the deep flavors of chocolate and rum with a delightful texture. Its perfect for any occasion and guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth!
Ingredients:
- 1 (15.25 ounce) package chocolate cake mix
- 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
- 4 large eggs
- cup water
- cup vegetable oil
- cup white rum
- cup chopped walnuts
- cup butter
- 1 cup white sugar
- cup white rum
- cup water
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 325F (165C). Grease a 10-inch Bundt pan and sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly in the bottom of the pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, instant chocolate pudding mix, eggs, vegetable oil, cup of water, and cup of rum. Beat the mixture with an electric mixer on high speed for 2 minutes until smooth and well-blended.
- Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan, over the walnuts. Spread it out evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the cake comes out clean.
- While the cake is baking, prepare the rum glaze. In a saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, cup of rum, and cup of water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes. Then, pour the warm rum glaze evenly over the cake, ensuring it absorbs into the surface.
- Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan before transferring it to a serving plate.

I made this chocolate rum cake for the second time, and it was even better than the first! I added more rum to the sauce (3/4 cup this time), which really enhanced the flavor. I recommend experimenting with the recipe to suit your taste preferences. Make sure to poke holes all the way through the Bundt cake so that the sauce can fully penetrate it. Allow the cake to absorb all the liquid before carefully turning it out onto a plate. With a couple of taps, the cake came out easily. Delicious and definitely worth making again!

This chocolate rum cake was a hit at the dinner party! I greatly appreciated the feedback and suggestions from everyone that helped enhance this recipe. I opted for an organic, all-natural chocolate cake mix and pudding mix to create a homemade and wholesome treat. Instead of white rum, I used dark spiced rum – specifically Chairman's Reserve spiced rum. For the glaze, I mixed 3/8 cup of rum with 1/8 cup of water. I prepared the cake a day in advance, making sure to poke holes in the bottom before removing it from the pan and adding half of the glaze. After waiting almost an hour, I repeated the process on the top of the cake with the remaining glaze. I covered it with plastic wrap and let it sit on the counter overnight. Just before serving, I dusted confectioner's sugar on top, and it looked and tasted exceptional!

We absolutely adored this cake! We made two minor yet delightful tweaks. Firstly, we opted for a coffee-flavored rum. Secondly, we punctured holes in the cake before drizzling the glaze, resulting in a visible soaking into the cake's center. The end result was simply delicious!

Very simple, easy, and delicious! I usually avoid nuts, but this recipe was great even without them. I also experimented by making bite-sized portions using a mini muffin pan, and I loved the results. I utilized a turkey baster to apply the glaze to the bites, which worked perfectly.

Since discovering this recipe, my family has been absolutely obsessed with it. I enjoy experimenting with the rum in both the cake batter and the glaze, and it's so rewarding to see the delighted expressions on the faces of my loved ones and friends as they savor every bite of this decadent rum-soaked cake.
