I decided to enhance the color and texture of the dish by adding a cup of frozen berries, which not only added a vibrant touch of blue to the red and white colors but also provided some extra moisture. Without this addition, the dish would have been too dry. Additionally, I incorporated a layer of oatmeal on top and drizzled a tablespoon of melted butter over it towards the end of the baking process to give it a beautiful golden brown finish. After making these tweaks, I am pleased to give it a 5-star rating. The dish was a hit with everyone who tried it, and they were all eager to get their hands on the recipe.

I have read many reviews where several people were expecting this dish to have a more cake-like texture and be able to be cut, even though cobblers are typically not like that. If you prefer to cut it, simply mix everything, including the melted butter, thoroughly. This will allow you to cut it into squares. Personally, I prefer the original way, but it's good to know this method in case you want to serve it with additional fresh fruit, ice cream, or whipped cream on top. I would love to hear from others who have tried it this way.

I made this recipe with frozen mixed berries and a 20 oz bottle of Sprite mixed with a white or yellow cake mix.
