  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 2 hard-boiled eggs, diced
  • 5 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 pinches kosher salt

Directions

Step 1: In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, buttermilk, diced onion, vegetable oil, hard-boiled eggs, sour cream, dried parsley, garlic powder, black pepper, and kosher salt.

Step 2: Continue whisking until the dressing becomes smooth and creamy. This should take about 30 seconds.

Step 3: Transfer the dressing to a 1-quart jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to one week. Make sure to shake well before each use.

Recipe Tip

You can substitute buttermilk with other dairy options like Greek yogurt, regular milk, or cream. Additionally, the type of mayonnaise you choose will affect the consistency of the dressing.

After making some tweaks by substituting grapeseed oil for vegetable oil, using fresh garlic instead of garlic powder, and opting for green onion over regular onion, I was initially underwhelmed by the flavor. However, once I added some dill (and some other herbs would work well too), this dish went from average to vibrant, fresh, and absolutely delectable.

I didn't leave out the eggs and tossed in some Parisian herbs. Delicious!

We really enjoyed this dressing. The egg provided a nice texture without overpowering the taste. The only modification I made was using olive oil instead of vegetable oil. My husband enjoys blending Italian and creamy dressings, and this recipe will definitely be a repeat request. Thank you for introducing a new favorite for him!
