Per this recipe, if you cook Wrights hickory smoked bacon, it will be cooked but soft. It still tastes delicious this way, but it is not what most consider "Crispy" bacon. If you want this "Thick" bacon to be crispy, you will have to adjust the temperature and time, deviating from from this recipe a bit. Using Wrights hickory smoked bacon, I had to cook it for 20mins at 400 degrees, and then increase the temperature to 425 degrees for 10 minutes. If you want it more crispy, add an additional 5 - 15 minutes on 425 degrees, but I encourage caution, and that you keep an eye on it. (All temperatures in my post refer to F).

I have been oven cooking my bacon like this for years but without the baking rack. One benefit of cooking bacon this way is they will always lie flat and won’t curl like in a frying pan.

Hands down the best way to cook bacon. Been doing this for years. I used a rimmed cookie sheet lined with foil for ez cleanup and a sheet of parchment over the foil so the bacon doesn't stick. 405F in my gas oven, 20 min thick cut bacon is perfect every time. (Every oven is different so your cooking times may vary depending how accurate your oven holds temp.)

Place a piece of foil on top of bacon to prevent splatter

15 minutes was the perfect time for me! The perfect balance of crispy and chewy.

Followed recipe as written and bacon came out great! When I had more than 6 slices to back, I did crank the temp to 425°F and bake an additional 5 minutes and that crisped them up to the desired doneness we like.

This is a great recipe. I used it to work from for thicker bacon. I used Hormel Black Label Pecanwood Smoked Thick Sliced Bacon. The first batch of 9 slices (pictured) took 35 minutes. I never turned the bacon. The recipe doesn't call for it, and with the rack doesn't need it. The bacon was slightly crispier on the ends, but the middles were beutifully done. I had the same results with the second batch of 5 slices which took only 25 minutes. Watch it carefully. Toward the end it is done quickly.

I used thick cut bacon from a local grocery store and followed the recipe. At 20 minutes at 400 it was not done. I baked 30 at 400 and 6 at 425 which produced nice crispy bacon.

I mean, it works- eventually... But there is zero chance your bacon cooks in 15 minutes. Pictured is our bacon after 20 minutes. It's an easy 30+ minute cook time at 400°

I've made oven-baked bacon for YEARS. For thick-cut Wright's bacon, I use foil-lined baking sheet (no rack). No flipping (although that would work fine, it's an extra step and more time). 25 minutes in a 425 degree oven. Drain on paper towels. Not crispy, but, after cooling, I store the bacon in a zip-lock bag in the fridge. Take them out as needed, wrap in paper towel, microwave to desired crispness (about 30 seconds in my case) and use with eggs, for sandwiches, crumbled on salads, etc.

I really wanted to love it but... I have tried this about 4 times now and I can't get the bacon to cook in 20 minutes. I would bake it 30 minutes then put it in my skillet which was totally the opposite of my goal. I finally just kept baking it for another 5 and another 5 until it got done and I'm not a real crispy bacon lover. I've tried with the rack and without. I had more luck without the rack. But I got a lot more fat splashing. But I'm going to try it again. When I got it baked I loved the uniform shape and the consistency in the cooking. So wish me luck... here I go again. Delicious but it took me 35 minutes to cook it then it came out perfect. So much easier than frying but I don't leave the stove after 20 minutes and check on it every 5 minutes.

Been cooking on an elevated grate (as shown) on foil for years. I put the oven on @ 350 degrees for 25 min, flip and cook for 20 mins. Remove and put on paper towels. Works great every time!

This took closer to 40 minutes I don’t know why I forget every time that it takes so much longer

I cooked it for 20 minutes, but it was not crispy enough for me. 25 minutes seemed to do the trick!

So delicious, the basking rack really makes the difference. I just use wax paper on the bottom instead. But it’s 100%

I was visiting my son and he uses the following: Preheat oven to 350 (yes 350). Line sheet pan with aluminum foil, no rack. Don't crowd bacon. Cook for 20 minutes. Check and add 4-7 minutes depending on preference.
