Savory Sausage Cups Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 (16 ounce) package Jimmy Dean Premium Pork Regular Sausage
- 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 4 ounces garden vegetable cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- cup finely chopped red bell pepper
- cup finely chopped green onion
- 2 (8 ounce) packages crescent roll sheets
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375F (190C).
- In a frying pan over medium-high heat, add the sausage. Cook and stir with a spatula, breaking it apart until fully cooked, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain the sausage and let it cool.
- In a bowl, combine the regular cream cheese, vegetable cream cheese, Cheddar cheese, chopped bell pepper, green onion, and the cooled, crumbled sausage. Mix well and set aside.
- Unroll one crescent dough sheet and press it into a 9x12-inch rectangle. Cut the dough into 6 rows across and 4 rows vertically to create 24 squares. Repeat with the second package of dough.
- Place one square of dough into each cup of two nonstick 24-cup mini muffin tins. Press the dough into the bottom and up the sides of each cup.
- Drop a heaping teaspoon of the sausage filling into each cup. The filling should reach the top of each cup but does not need to be pressed down.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 11 to 13 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown.
- Allow the mini bites to cool for 5 minutes in the muffin tins before transferring them to a platter.
Recipe Tip: If crescent dough sheets are unavailable, you can substitute with two 8-ounce cans of crescent dough rolls. When unrolling, be sure to press all seams tightly together before cutting into squares.

These sausage cups make fantastic appetizers! I decided to experiment by using sweet Hawaiian crescent rolls for half of the batch, and they turned out to be my favorite. Although there wasn't a significant difference in taste, the sweet ones had a unique touch. I had some leftover filling, so I recommend having an extra package of crescent rolls on hand to use it all up. Filling the cups was a breeze using a cookie scoop.

We absolutely loved this recipe! My tip would be to prepare the cup ingredients in advance and let them come to room temperature before using a small cookie scoop to fill the cups. I halved the recipe and due to COVID restrictions, I'll have to wait to share these with friends. These cups make a fantastic appetizer for parties! Thank you, Jimmy Dean! We are big fans of your sausage and these appetizers were a hit!

I improvised with ingredients on hand instead of making a trip to the store. With just five ounces of goat cheese instead of the recommended cream cheese and fresh local sausage in place of Jimmy Dean, the recipe still produced a fantastic outcome. The simplicity of the recipe allows for easy modifications that turn out just as well. These make perfect high-protein grab-and-go snacks.

I was tempted to sauté the bell pepper and green onions, but I stayed true to the recipe. I'm really glad I did because it turned out perfectly without that extra step. I halved the recipe and ended up with exactly 24 mini cups of pure deliciousness. These little treats are so scrumptious and simple to make. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful recipe!
