I have been making this delicious appetizer for at least 10-15 years now. The only variation in my recipe is that I use 1 can of tiny shrimp. I combine one 6 oz. jar of Kraft Old English cheese, 1 1/2 tsp. of mayonnaise, 1/2 tsp of garlic salt, and 1/2 cup of melted butter (must be butter). Mix everything together and gently fold in the shrimp at the end to prevent them from becoming mushy. Spread the mixture on split English muffins, broil until golden brown, then slice into quarters. Sometimes I use one less muffin to achieve a thicker topping. These appetizers are always a hit, and I never fail to end up with an empty platter! Absolutely fantastic!! Thank you, Ellen, for sharing this recipe!

I look forward to our annual crabbing trip to the Oregon coast each year, where we always bring back a delightful bounty of crabs. We have a go-to crab recipe that we typically follow, using Old English cheese and fresh crab. One thing that sets our version apart is our method of freezing the prepared muffins on a pan for a few hours before either baking them immediately or storing them in zip lock bags for later use. This year, I decided to change things up by substituting Velveta cheese for the Old English. I used a mixer to blend the cheese, butter, and garlic salt together until smooth, before adding in the fresh crab and optional parsley. To give it an extra kick, I included some grated taco cheese blend in the mixture. It's crucial to bake and broil these muffins in the oven to achieve the perfect flavor and texture. This step is key, as skipping it can make a noticeable difference in the final result, as some negative reviews of this recipe have pointed out. Overall, this is a fantastic way to showcase the delicious taste of crab, and it's always a hit with everyone who tries them!

Delicious and effortless. The Bunco group adored it. For a more elegant touch at a special event, I opted to bake Pillsbury dough French bread in the Pampered Chef star and flower bread tubes, then sliced it once cooled. I added the mixture and baked it just before our guests arrived.

My mom has been preparing these for as long as I can remember, and they are a beloved tradition in our family. One special touch that sets her version apart is using THOMAS' English muffins. Their signature "nooks and crannies" allow the toppings to meld perfectly with the muffin, resulting in a delightfully crispy finish. By starting on the bottom rack and finishing under the broiler, she ensures they are crispy all over. It's wonderful to see others enjoying this fantastic dish too.

I'm so happy that I came across this recipe because I had misplaced my old one. I substituted green onions for parsley and added Tabasco sauce to give it a kick of spice. The result was absolutely delicious. Thank you for sharing this recipe!
