Baked Blazing Hot Wings Recipe

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Buffalo Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds frozen chicken wings
  • 2 cups hot pepper sauce (such as Frank's RedHot)
  • cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Directions

Step 1: Gather all the ingredients and prepare your cooking space.

Step 2: Preheat the oven to 400F (200C).

Step 3: Arrange the frozen chicken wings in a single layer in a shallow baking dish.

Step 4: Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Step 5: After 25 minutes, flip the wings over and continue to bake for another 20 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the meat is no longer pink at the bone. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165F (74C).

Step 6: While the wings are baking, combine the hot sauce, butter, and vinegar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the butter melts, about 5 minutes.

Step 7: Whisk in the flour until the sauce becomes smooth, and continue to cook for about 5 more minutes, until the sauce thickens.

Step 8: Once the wings are done, drain any excess grease and let them stand for 5 minutes to cool slightly.

Step 9: Transfer the wings to a large bowl and pour the sauce over them. Toss the wings to coat them evenly in the sauce.

We have decided to make this a bi-weekly family dinner! Thank you for sharing such a simple recipe. I like to put the wings under a high-heat broiler for an extra 10-15 minutes to make them extra crispy.

I prepared snacks for the Super Bowl evening, and they were a big hit with my partner. I used Texas Pete hot sauce for an added kick. For my second batch, I mixed in a bit of honey to tone down the spiciness. Both batches turned out excellent! This recipe is definitely a keeper.

I enhanced the warmed up sauce by incorporating honey, sour cream, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
