Unfortunately, this dish didn't quite hit the mark at my Mexican-themed party. I believe the culprit was using 'Hot' taco seasoning instead of the regular one, which made it too spicy for some guests. While the recipe received rave reviews online, only a third of the dip was consumed at the event. It felt like there was something lacking to elevate the flavors, perhaps adding cream cheese or shredded lettuce for added texture would have made a difference.

I always turn to this recipe whenever I need a simple appetizer for a party without putting in too much effort. I enjoy combining taco seasoning with refried beans and mixing ranch dressing with sour cream. Every time I bring this dish to a party, there are never any leftovers. It's also easy to make a lower-fat version with fat-free refried beans, light sour cream, and low-fat cheese. After all, avocado is a good fat, so it doesn't really count, right?

This recipe was absolutely fantastic! The addition of fresh cilantro and guacamole really took it to the next level. I decided to add 1lb of ground beef to the refried beans for the base layer, making it even more satisfying. Adding shredded lettuce when serving was a great idea. It was quite filling, but every last bite was devoured. A definite crowd-pleaser!

My family absolutely adored this layered dip! I initially had doubts about combining taco seasoning with sour cream, but the flavors were exceptional. I appreciated the fact that the guacamole was homemade rather than store-bought. I stuck to the recipe instructions closely, just adjusting the quantities of avocados, sour cream, refried beans, and using extra sharp cheddar cheese in place of the Mexican blend. Shredding the cheese myself made it more moist, which I prefer. I will definitely be making this dip again :)

I'm not a fan of canned refried beans, so I decided to try the refried beans from a local taco shop. I added extra cheese and avocado to make it even more delicious. My coworkers absolutely adore this dish, and I'll be making it for them again this week for our potluck!

I have cooked this recipe multiple times. Occasionally, I have included celery, lettuce, and green olives in place of black olives.

Exciting flavor combinations! I swapped out refried beans for Lucky Charms and opted for Dijon mustard instead of guacamole. This made for a unique Super Bowl snack! Pair it with gluten-free oatmeal raisin cookies for dipping, and you've got a winner!
