Sweet Baby Carrots Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe was developed with its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- 1 (16 ounce) package baby carrots
- cup butter
- cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons honey
Directions
Step 1: Place the carrots in a large pot and cover them with salted water. Bring to a boil over high heat and cook until the carrots are tender, about 15 minutes.
Step 2: Remove the pot from the stove and drain the carrots in a strainer.
Step 3: Return the pot to the stove, add butter, and reduce the heat to medium-low. Allow the butter to melt.
Step 4: Stir in the brown sugar and honey into the melted butter. Continue to stir until well combined.
Step 5: Add the drained carrots back into the pot and stir until they are evenly coated with the syrupy mixture.
Step 6: Cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together before serving.
Step 7: Serve and enjoy your delicious honey-glazed carrots!

I'm the author of this recipe...I'm glad so many people are enjoying it. One thing I notice is that many reviewers are saying that 1/2 cup of butter makes too much sauce. It does make a lot of sauce, but the reason for us is that my family likes to dip their bread in the excess sauce to sop it up. Regardless, I'm happy to share one of my family's favorites with you!

Although I don't eat butter, I made this glaze for steamed carrots for my husband. I steamed the baby carrots in my steamer and added the glaze. I did change it up a bit after reading a few comments. 3 Tablespoons of butter, 3 Tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 Tablespoon of honey--with a small extra squirt because he really likes honey. I cut the butter in small pieces, added the brown sugar, and then just threw it in the microwave (covered with plastic wrap) for about 25-35 seconds. After making sure it was well stirred and the brown sugar had disintegrated, I covered the carrots with the glaze. I will be using this recipe from now on! Wonderful!

YUMMY! After reviewing other notes..., I decided to decrease the amount of sauce - I used 3 T butter, 3 T Brown Sugar & 1 T honey with a dash of cinnamon... I steamed 1 pound of baby carrots since we like prefer our carrots a little less done for about 10 minutes and then tossed them in the sauce. They were delicious!

Sooo easy and tasty. I only used 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 3 Tb butter, and 1 Tb honey, and it had plenty of sauce. I used baby carrots, and they were done in 15 min covered. I will definitely be using this recipe in the future. A great way to prepare carrots.

Loved it. I don't use baby carrots. We use large farm carrots, peel them, dice them evenly and it's perfect. The fresh carrots have much more flavor than the pre-peeled and bagged "baby carrots"

Will use this one again with a couple of modifications. We don't need extra sauce to dip bread in so just made half as much sauce as called for and used the 1 lb package of baby carrots. It was plenty. It was a tad sweet so will decrease the honey and brown sugar a bit next time. Also steamed the carrots instead of cooking in water. The flavor and texture were fantastic.

Great recipe! I only had standard carrots on hand.. peeled and cut them into coins, adjusted the cooking time, as they did not require as much time cooking time to soften. Followed others recommendation to make sure the carrots were dried prior to adding the butter/honey/sugar mixture. The only tweak I added was a touch (approx. 1/8 teaspoon) of cayenne pepper. Gave the carrots some very mild kick.

Excellent recipe, just what I was hoping it would be. I used 1/4 cup of butter, 3 T brown sugar and 1 T honey, per the suggestion of others, and there was more than enough sauce. I cooked the carrots until they were still slightly firm, drained, and immediately cooled them with cold water because I didn't want them to be too soft. After melting the sauce ingredients back in, I tossed the carrots in the sauce and heated them through.

Second time using this method but I did cut down on the butter and halved (brown) sugar. Family still loved it.

Very yummy. I was short on time so I halved the carrots lengthwise. I also read up in the reviews and used only 1/3 of the sauce mixture. After using a slotted spoon to serve the carrots I was left with maybe 1/4 cup of sauce. So I saved it and I will add it to the next batch that I make. I am going to double the carrots next time because it was so delicious!

I sliced the baby carrots prior to cooking so my 2 year old son can pick them up with his fingers and doubled the ingredients

I tried this recipe tonight and it was delicious! I realized just as I was draining the carrots and melting the butter, that I was out of honey. I did have some maple syrup so I added just about a half a teaspoon. It’s a terrific recipe and I plan on making it frequently.

I used carrot chips instead of baby carrots and it worked just as well. Delicious balance of butter and sweet. Not too rich and not too sugary. Definitely keeping this for my candied carrot recipe.

I will 100% be making this recipe again but as others have stated there was just WAY too much sauce for the amount of carrots. It felt like a waste. Next time I will either half the sauce recipe or double the amount of carrots. The taste was amazing though!
