Apple Snicker Salad Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe was created for its original yield. Ingredient quantities will adjust automatically for different serving sizes, but cooking steps and timing remain the same. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.
- 1 (3.4 ounce) package instant butterscotch pudding mix
- 1 cup milk
- 1 (6 ounce) package whipped cream topping (such as Cool Whip)
- 6 chocolate-coated caramel-peanut nougat candy bars (such as Snickers), cut into bite-size pieces
- 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and chopped into bite-size pieces
Original recipe yield: 16 servings
Directions
Step 1: Gather all the ingredients and prepare your workspace for assembling the dessert.
Step 2: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the butterscotch pudding mix and milk until fully dissolved and smooth.
Step 3: Gently fold the whipped cream topping into the pudding mixture until well combined and creamy.
Step 4: Add the chopped candy bar pieces to the pudding mixture. Carefully fold them in to distribute evenly without crushing.
Step 5: Incorporate the chopped apples into the mixture, folding gently to coat all pieces with the creamy pudding.
Step 6: Transfer the dessert into a serving dish, chill if desired, and serve. Enjoy the sweet and fruity treat!

I had this years ago so I was happy to find this recipe again! A good option here for taste and presentation, swirl some caramel around a pretty glass before adding the ingriedients.. (caramel apple) :)

I make this with Vanilla pudding. I also mix everything the night before except the apples. This allows the carmel from the snickers bars to add extra flavor to the mixture. Big hit every time I make it.

You can't go wrong with these ingredients! Made this for the Super Bowl party and everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. Whoever decided to call this a salad is a dessert lover so I will file this under "Desserts"! As for the recipe I decided to lower the milk to 1/2 cup because I was concerned if there was a lot left over it would get runny from the apples softening. I used a small box of vanilla instant pudding stirring only with a rubber scraper to blend in the milk and then gently folding in the 8 oz of thawed whipped topping. I used six snickers bars, the normal size. You can buy these in one package. If using a long chopping knife you can slice/chop all six bars at once at room temperature. I added the chopped snickers to the filling and let it chill for an hour before adding the chopped apples, using only 5 granny smith apples. Depending on the size of each apple you'll have to judge for yourself how many to add. I chilled the mixture another hour before serving and you could definitely chill longer.

I've been making this recipe forever. For those who got soupy results, were you using: 1. Instant Butterscotch Pudding (had to be instant pudding) 2. For those who got clumpy pudding, try stiring more during the first 5-7 minutes as the pudding is setting. A hand mixer works best. 3. Mix in cold cool whip after the pudding has set up. Pudding can also be put in the fridge after mixing with milk for no less than 7 minutes. 4. If you use watery apples you'll get a watery salad quicker. Use smaller denser granny smiths, not the huge bulk jumbo ones. They have so much water. I always use a full 8oz tub of cool whip and the Butterscotch Pudding and use 1.5 cups of milk. Don't use skim or 1%. Half and half works great! I've made a variation of this salad with an 8oz brick of cream cheese, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and heavy cream. They are both delicious!!!

I have been making this for years at every family gathering , everyone loves it. I always double the recipe. to cut the apples faster I use an apple slicer then I put them in a dicer that I purchased at Walmart. It is white oblong, it comes with 2 trays. It always takes between 15-20 minutes to make to entire recipe. I always make the night before so it will be really cold. While my daughter is taking the wrappers off the minature snickers I cut them in half. We cut the apples last, as I am slicing them she puts them in the dicer, this is a lot of fun for the kids :)

Great recipe, we've made it for years and serve it as a dessert. We use vanilla pudding instead, and with a drizzle of caramel ice cream topping the butterscotchy flavour isn't overpowering. As parents we probably won't serve this every day, but we can help our kids learn how to include sweets in a healthy diet - by exposing them to treats from time to time. Thanks for posting!!

I've made this a couple times, it's really good. I'm not a big fan of butterscotch pudding and I rarely buy it, so I used vanilla, as a few others did. I also only buy the six-serving size pudding mix, so I used that and added an extra half cup of milk. For the whipped topping, it comes in 8 oz containers so I just put in the whole thing. I also buy the fun size or miniature Snickers, freeze them, then hit them with a hammer while they are still in their wrappers. Then I just dump them right into the pudding mixture--no need to cut them up and make a huge mess on the counter. I put in the whole package (it says nine servings are in the bag). I cut up 4 apples. I feel guilty throwing the vitamins that are in those yummy apple peelings down the disposal, so I don't peel my apples, just wash them and then chop them up. They taste great and my family loves them. Plus, then you don't need to feel guilty about putting candy bars in your salad!

I followed the recipe exactly and I wound up with a very runny salad. I did not serve it and the next day it was even more watery. Next time, I’ll make the pudding and let that set up first and then add the other ingredients.

This sweet Apple salad has been a kid and family favorite for years. I strongly advise using vanilla pudding mix and fold in a can of drained crushed pineapple. The pineapple puts this over the top. Great recipe. Thank you for sharing.

I have not made this but it sounds yummy. Just a thought, I would make it with out adding the apples, but slice them up and have on the side just to dip into the pudding mixture, also use graham crackers as a dipping tool, or crush on top. Like I stated just a thought :-)

Been making snicker salad for years. A MUCH easier version of this is just to use Snickers, apples & cool whip, with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Forget the pudding & milk.

I actually use cheesecake flavored instant pudding - that was what I had on hand the first time I made it, and family asked me never to use any other flavor! ❤️

I made this for a picnic. Everyone loved it. I use less milk and Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples as well.

I’m sorry but this recipe did not work. It was so soupy. I even let the pudding set up more. Then I did as suggested, if it was soupy, to add more cool whip. It ended up having runny foam on it. It was yucky and no one at the party ate it so I will be throwing away a triple batch! 9 apples, 4 tubs of cool whip, pudding and 18 snicker bars. Ouch! $$ I would suggest trying a small batch ahead of time if you choose this recipe.

Idk what I did wrong but mine was all clumpy from the pudding mix. Maybe more milk? More cool whip? Still tastes good, just doesn't look good 😂.

My mother-in law asked me to make this for Thanksgiving. She loved it! It was a big hit with everyone, as well. I added chopped walnuts and substituted the butterscotch pudding with vanilla pudding.

I didn't have the recipe that my sister usually makes and my daughter loves; however, she liked this version just as much if not more and my husband's family was raving about it. It was a good one to have her make as well (14 yrs old).
