Easy Sauteed Leeks Recipe
Cook Time: 16 minutes
Ingredients
This recipe is designed for 4 servings. Ingredient quantities adjust automatically for different yields, but cooking times and techniques remain the same. Please note that scaling may not always be exact.
- 2 large leeks
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Trim the root ends and the dark green tops of the leeks. Discard these parts. Slice the remaining white and light green portions into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
- Place the sliced leeks in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for 5 minutes. The slices will rise to the surface while any sand settles at the bottom.
- Using a slotted spoon, lift the leeks from the water and transfer them to a colander. Shake gently to remove excess water.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the leeks in a single layer and let them cook undisturbed for 8 minutes.
- Turn the leek slices over carefully. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Continue cooking for another 8 minutes, until tender and lightly golden.
