Easy Sauteed Leeks Recipe

Easy Sauteed Leeks Recipe

Cook Time: 16 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe is designed for 4 servings. Ingredient quantities adjust automatically for different yields, but cooking times and techniques remain the same. Please note that scaling may not always be exact.

  • 2 large leeks
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Trim the root ends and the dark green tops of the leeks. Discard these parts. Slice the remaining white and light green portions into 1/2-inch thick rounds.
  2. Place the sliced leeks in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for 5 minutes. The slices will rise to the surface while any sand settles at the bottom.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, lift the leeks from the water and transfer them to a colander. Shake gently to remove excess water.
  4. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the leeks in a single layer and let them cook undisturbed for 8 minutes.
  5. Turn the leek slices over carefully. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Continue cooking for another 8 minutes, until tender and lightly golden.
