Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient French Dips Recipe

Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient French Dips Recipe

Cook Time: 420 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe yields 8 servings. Ingredient amounts can be adjusted proportionally, though cooking times remain the same. Not all recipes scale perfectly.

  • 1 (3 pound) beef brisket
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 (14 ounce) can beef broth
  • 8 large French rolls, split

Directions

Step 1: Place the beef brisket into the slow cooker, ensuring it sits evenly at the bottom.

Step 2: In a small bowl, combine the onion soup mix with the beef broth. Stir well to dissolve the mix completely.

Step 3: Pour the broth mixture over the brisket, making sure the meat is evenly coated.

Step 4: Cover the slow cooker and cook on the Low setting for 7 to 9 hours until the brisket is tender and easily shredded.

Step 5: Remove the brisket and transfer it to a cutting board. Slice the meat thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.

Step 6: Fill the split French rolls with sliced brisket. Optionally, ladle some of the cooking juices into small bowls to serve alongside the sandwiches for dipping.

I absolutely adore this recipe and have cooked it multiple times using different brisket weights. It always turns out fantastic, and my guests absolutely enjoy it! My favorite way to enjoy it is by lightly toasting the bread, adding the meat, topping it with provolone cheese, and then broiling it in the toaster oven until the cheese is perfectly melted. I simply toss everything into the crockpot before heading to work, and when I return home, I skim off any excess fat, and use two forks to effortlessly shred the meat.

Had to substitute chuck roast as brisket with no corned beef seasonings was unavailable. Prepared extra au jus in case as our family enjoys the dipping part. Following a reviewer's suggestion, added Worcestershire sauce which was a great addition. Overall, a wonderful experience.

I am truly amazed by this recipe! It was incredibly easy to make and the flavors were outstanding. I first cooked it on high for 2 hours and then on low for another 4 hours. The end result was a huge hit with my husband, who declared it a success!

Super simple and incredibly tasty! Couldn't find brisket at any nearby stores, so I substituted with a chuck roast and threw in some onions for extra flavor.

This dish was a huge success! Despite the butcher running out of brisket, he kindly offered me a different roast at no extra cost. I improvised by adding a touch of chicken broth to make up for the shortage of beef broth. The meat turned out beautifully shredded, and the sauce from the broth and drippings was incredibly tasty. I will definitely be making this recipe again and again.

I made this recipe expecting the flavors of fresh oven-roasted beef thinly sliced, but it turned out differently. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was. The dish retained its flavor well when reheated as leftovers the next night, unlike traditional roasted beef which tends to taste dull. Overall, I give it a thumbs up!
