Homemade Dog Food with Chicken Recipe

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cups rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 4 pounds boneless chicken thighs, chopped
  • 1 pound frozen cut green beans
  • cup liquid aminos (such as Bragg)

Directions

  1. Pour water and oats into a rice cooker. Seal the cooker and set it according to the manufacturer's instructions. Cook for approximately 15 minutes, or until the oats are tender. Once the cooker switches to the "Warm" setting, remove the pot and set it aside.
  2. In a large frying pan or wok, heat the canola oil over high heat. Add the chopped chicken thighs and cover the pan. Let the chicken cook for 4 minutes, stirring every minute to ensure it cooks evenly.
  3. Add the frozen green beans to the pan, stir, cover, and cook for another 4 minutes, stirring every minute to keep the ingredients from sticking.
  4. Stir in the liquid aminos and break up the mixture with a spatula to combine all ingredients thoroughly. Cover the pan, reduce the heat to low, and let it simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  5. Once simmered, stir in the cooked oatmeal and break up the mixture again using a spatula, ensuring everything is well incorporated. Remove the pan from the heat and allow it to cool completely for 20 to 30 minutes.
  6. After cooling, divide the mixture into desired portions for freezing. Package accordingly for meal prep and storage.

Tips

  • Follow the package instructions for preparing the oats to ensure they are cooked correctly.
  • If preferred, you can substitute fresh green beans for frozen ones and use ground chicken thighs instead of chopped.
