Every Christmas, my grandma used to send us a special treat that we fondly called "nuts and bolts," a homemade version of chex mix. It was something I looked forward to every holiday season, but when she passed away a few years ago, her recipe was lost with her. I've been trying to recreate it ever since, but never quite succeeded... until now! With this recipe, minus the ground red pepper, I finally managed to replicate that beloved taste of my grandma's nuts and bolts. Thank you so much for helping me bring back such a meaningful family tradition!

I ran out of Lawry's seasoning and came across this recipe. I decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. It turned out to be a great seasoning blend. I used slightly less than 1/4 cup of salt to avoid it being too salty. I would recommend making this seasoning blend instead of buying Lawry's seasoned salt. Thanks for providing such a reliable recipe to rely on.

I enhanced the flavor by incorporating 1/4 tsp of celery salt, 1 tsp of turmeric, and a mix of paprika - 1/2 tsp sweet and 1/2 tsp smoked. I opted for pink sea salt as it was readily available, along with a dash of freshly ground black pepper. The result was truly delightful!

Simple and convenient. The ingredients are common in most kitchens. Opt for fresh and top-notch spices for best results. I included 1/2 teaspoon of crushed parsley flakes and 1/4 teaspoon of celery seed. Keep the mixture in a tightly sealed shaker to avoid clumping. Adding a few dried beans can also help prevent caking if needed.

Great balance of flavors that complement almost any type of meat, although personally I found the black pepper to be a bit overpowering. I'll reduce the amount to 2 tsp next time for a more subtle taste.

I use this seasoning frequently. While it's good as written, my preference is to enhance it by using smoked paprika and doubling the amount. I omit the red pepper and reduce the black pepper slightly.

I have used this multiple times. It's a fantastic timesaver when you need to add flavor to a salad, soup, or quick meal without having to take out all of your spices from the cabinet.

Salty, but in a good way. Thank you, Jayna!

This recipe is fantastic, just like all your other recipes. However, I find it frustrating to have to constantly scroll through pictures and close pop-ups and videos. What drew me to your website was its simplicity - just recipes without any distractions like "jump to recipe" buttons or long introductions with videos and personal stories. Please consider removing the pop-ups, as they are universally disliked. Thank you.
