Egg-Fried Tofu Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 (16 ounce) package firm tofu
- 1 pinch sea salt (to taste)
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
Dipping Sauce:
- cup soy sauce
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 2 serrano chile peppers, chopped
- 2 teaspoons white vinegar
- 2 teaspoons white sugar
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Directions
Step 1: Slice the tofu into 12 equal rectangular pieces. Sprinkle sea salt on both sides of each tofu slice.
Step 2: Heat vegetable oil in a large, deep saucepan over medium heat.
Step 3: Dip the tofu slices into the beaten egg and fry them in the hot oil until lightly browned, about 3 minutes per side.
Step 4: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, chopped green onions, serrano chile peppers, white vinegar, sugar, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to create the dipping sauce.
Step 5: Once the tofu is fried, dip each piece into the prepared sauce and serve immediately.

Korean-style soy sauce works best for this recipe, enhancing the flavors with its unique profile.
