Quick and Easy Hamburger Stroganoff Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 (16 ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained (Optional)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic salt, or to taste
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (such as Campbells)
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can cream of chicken soup (such as Campbells)
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions:

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rapid boil. Cook the egg noodles for 7 to 9 minutes, until tender yet firm to the bite. Drain the noodles and set aside.
  3. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and saut until tender and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add ground beef in small chunks to the skillet. Cook, stirring frequently, until browned and crumbly, approximately 5 to 7 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture and cook, stirring constantly, for about 1 minute to thicken the sauce.
  6. If using, stir in the mushrooms and garlic salt for additional flavor.
  7. Pour in both the cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soups. Stir to combine and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture is heated through.
  8. Add sour cream to the skillet and stir until smooth and heated through, an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  9. Serve the beef mixture over the cooked egg noodles, and enjoy!
