Indian Fried Cabbage Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 cup sliced red onion
- 1 large clove garlic, minced
- teaspoon cumin seeds
- head green cabbage, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- teaspoon garam masala
Directions
- Heat coconut oil over medium-high heat in a large nonstick pan or wok.
- Add the sliced red onion and saut for about 1 minute until it starts to soften.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cumin seeds. Cook for an additional 1 minute, stirring frequently.
- Add the sliced cabbage to the pan and toss it to ensure it is well coated with the oil and spices.
- Season with salt, curry powder, and garam masala. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage becomes tender, about 5 minutes.
Cook's Note
I used approximately 6 cups of sliced cabbage for this recipe.

This was a great and quick vegetable side dish. I added some hot pepper flakes and chopped tomato, then decided to add canned lentils too. Delicious!

I needed another veggie for an Indian chicken and spiced rice dinner so I made this and it was delicious. I followed the recipe exactly except I had bought too many mushrooms so I added mushrooms and a teaspoon of ginger. I’ll definitely make this again. It’s a great recipe for cabbage

Simple, great recipe. I modified it by using garlic-ginger paste and a tablespoon of curry powder, but what a tasty vegetarian recipe!

I loved it! Finally a new cabbage recipe besides soup or coleslaw. My one recommendation is to add the spices early in the process, with the onions, so they have time to blossom and blend in. I added a dollop of sour cream at the table.

Fantastic. Every 4-Star rating altered the recipe! You shouldn't rate if you don't make it. You are rating your own recipe.

Delicious! I did add some fennel seeds just because I love the flavor combo with cabbage

I like this recipe a lot. I add red pepper flakes and 1/2 a tsp of tumeric, mostly for colour.

I really liked this but I used a bag of cabbage and it wasn’t quite enough. The spices were a little overpowering.

This was quite good. I doubled the curry powder and added a little extra garam masala. I also added mustard seeds with the cumin seeds.

Nice spice. I added mushrooms to make this a one dish meal for me. I also didn't have the Garam Masala, but used Chana Masala. I added a touch more curry as I like the spice and it was delicious

I added a few mustard seeds along with cumin seeds prior to sauteing the onions. Along with the finely sliced cabbage, added 1 chopped jalapeno as well. Plus a nice sized pinch of red pepper powder.
