Review Update: I really enjoyed this recipe. I initially gave it 4 stars because I felt it was missing a bit of flavor. Simply relying on cilantro wasn't enough for me. However, I found a simple way to enhance the taste without much effort. By adding a minced garlic clove and some onion to the mix, the dish really came to life. If you don't have cilantro on hand, fresh parsley is a great substitute. But here's where the real magic happens: Instead of just throwing everything together, I sautéed the garlic and onion until soft (watch out for burning!), then added the mushrooms with a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and herbs. Remember, mushrooms absorb salt, so don't go overboard. Once the mushrooms were cooked, I set them aside and cooked the cabbage in batches, seasoning with salt and pepper. When the cabbage softened and turned a richer green, I added the mushrooms back in along with some broth. Cover and let it simmer for 20 minutes, and voila! One handy tip for cooking mushrooms: make sure to pat them dry after rinsing to prevent them from becoming mushy. This little tweak made a big difference, and I will definitely be making this dish again.

Simple yet delicious. I opted for regular green cabbage and substituted dried cilantro with 1 tsp of coriander, while doubling the amount of mushrooms. I also added a chopped orange pepper for extra flavor. The end result was a dish with a rich buttery taste that pairs perfectly with baked or mashed potatoes. It truly feels like the ultimate comfort food!

Rewritten review: I thoroughly enjoyed making this dish—it was incredibly simple and paired perfectly as a side with some potato sausage. I had a regular cabbage that needed to be used up, so I substituted it for the savoy cabbage. To enhance the flavor, I mixed half a teaspoon of 'Better Than Bouillon Vegetable Base' with half a cup of water to create the broth, and it really elevated the taste. The dried cilantro added a lovely touch too. I discovered that my cabbage reached the desired tenderness after around 12 minutes of cooking, so I removed the lid and cooked it for an additional 3 minutes to reduce some of the moisture. Overall, it was a delightful, straightforward, and quick side dish that I will definitely be making again! Thank you for sharing the recipe!

I prepared this dish using my own Savoy cabbage and a can of mushrooms as I didn't have fresh ones. Although I had fresh cilantro, I opted not to use it. We enjoyed the dish as it was, especially since we are fans of cabbage. The addition of mushrooms provided a pleasant variation that we appreciated.

I enjoyed this straightforward combination even more once I incorporated caramelized onions, thinly sliced apple, and whole mustard seeds alongside white pepper.
