Sesame Grilled Salmon Recipe
Salmon with Honey Soy Marinade
Ingredients
- cup light soy sauce
- 1 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 pound salmon fillets
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Directions
Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, ginger, and garlic until the marinade is well mixed. Set aside of the marinade.
Step 2: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the remaining marinade over the salmon. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 5 minutes.
Step 3: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the salmon from the marinade, shaking off the excess, and place it skin-side up in the hot oil. Cook for 4 minutes.
Step 4: Discard the unused marinade from the shallow dish. Flip the salmon fillets over and drizzle the reserved marinade over them. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Step 5: Continue cooking the salmon for 5 to 7 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Flip the salmon, remove the skin, and cook for an additional 1 minute.

I was initially worried when grilling it in the pan and it started to look burnt, but after lowering the heat and following the directions closely, it turned out really well. I enjoyed it as it is, although a bit more garlic in the marinade for added flavor would be nice. Overall, I would definitely make it again.

Searing the meat side for just three minutes and cooking the skin side for 6 or 7 minutes results in a perfectly crispy texture.

Wow! This salmon dish is truly outstanding. As I prepared it, I found myself transported back to our favorite Japanese restaurant, thanks to the wonderful aromas filling my kitchen. My only misstep was cooking it in a skillet on my gas cooktop, resulting in some burnt flavors at the bottom of the pan. Controlling the temperature became challenging, and it ended up getting too hot. For the next attempt, I plan to use an electric skillet to see if it yields better results. Despite the hiccup, the dish turned out incredibly delicious!

This salmon dish was absolutely amazing! It was incredibly simple to prepare and was a hit with everyone dining at the table. One suggestion I have is to try using hot honey instead of regular honey, especially one with chili kernels in it. I found that it really took the flavor to the next level.

My wife, who usually isn't fond of fish, surprisingly enjoyed this recipe just as much as I did. I plan to increase the amount of honey next time and possibly add a splash of sriracha for an extra kick.

The oil and marinade ended up burning in the pan, giving my dish a black crust similar to some of the pictures. It turned out fine, but I personally prefer baking in a pan over frying. I must say, I disagree with the claim that prep time is only 10 minutes - I had to measure ingredients, mince garlic, and grate ginger root, which took a bit longer than expected.
