Sloppy Joe Spaghetti Recipe
Ingredients
This recipe yields 4 servings. Ingredient amounts have been adjusted accordingly, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Please note, scaling may not always produce perfect results.
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 (15 ounce) can sloppy joe sauce
- green bell pepper, diced
- onion, chopped
- cup Italian-style dried bread crumbs
- cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions
Step 1: Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain the pasta and set aside.
Step 2: While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and crumbly, about 5 to 7 minutes. Once cooked, drain and discard the grease.
Step 3: Stir in the sloppy joe sauce, diced green bell pepper, and chopped onion into the skillet. Cook and stir the mixture for about 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the sauce is heated through.
Step 4: Remove the skillet from heat. Mix in the Italian-style bread crumbs and shredded Cheddar cheese until well combined.
Step 5: Add the prepared sauce mixture to the cooked spaghetti and toss to coat evenly. Serve immediately and enjoy!

I must say, this recipe is undoubtedly one of the finest offerings on this site in a long while. Although I almost gave it a perfect 5-star rating, I decided to incorporate some tomato sauce to enhance the flavors. I was concerned that it might turn out a bit dry otherwise. I also sprinkled some Italian seasoning over it for an extra kick. The dish was a hit with everyone, and it's definitely going to be a repeat in my kitchen! Give this recipe a try - for me to be raving about it, you know it's truly exceptional!

I was not a fan of this recipe. I'm not sure if it was the sauce we used, but I doubt it. I'm confused about the purpose of the breadcrumbs in this dish. They only made the sauce feel like soggy bread. Additionally, adding the onion and green pepper mixture at the last minute was a mistake as they ended up being crunchy. Unfortunately, this meal turned out to be a disappointing use of ingredients.

I've tried making this dish twice. The first time, I followed the recipe exactly as it was written, but I found it to be too dry. The second time, I decided to use 2 cans of sloppy joe mix and a 15 oz can of Hunt's tomato sauce instead. It turned out much better that way. Both my husband and my son really enjoyed it.

I have experimented with this product multiple times. I discovered that utilizing the powdered mix from the packet for sloppy joes is significantly superior to using canned versions. The disparity was unmistakable! This specific aspect is the sole reason I didn't give it a perfect 5-star rating. Normally, I am hesitant to suggest modifications to recipes because I believe they should be evaluated based on their original form. Nevertheless, the substitution of the packet for the canned version resulted in such a substantial improvement that I feel compelled to recommend it!

Great taste. A bit on the dry side, but I believe it would be enhanced with a tablespoon of Italian seasoning instead of Italian bread crumbs.

I haven't had the chance to try this recipe yet, but I do have a can of Manwich in my pantry. I plan on sautéing the onions and peppers first before adding the sloppy joe sauce. I also intend to skip the breadcrumbs, and instead, use Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese in place of cheddar.

I had some leftover chunky sauce with peppers, onions, and ground beef, approximately 2 cups. I decided to spruce it up by adding a can of sloppy joe sauce, mixing it in with spaghetti, and layering it with mozzarella on top. I skipped the breadcrumbs and the result was a hit – the kids devoured it! This recipe is perfect for feeding a crowd and a clever way to use up leftover sauce. I initially didn't have enough for a full meal, but incorporating the sloppy joe sauce saved the day. Thank you for the inspiration!

There was no meat in this dish, just some canned spaghetti with garlic in water.

I was pleasantly surprised that my kids enjoyed it. Personally, I'm not a fan as I usually love sloppy Joes. However, I appreciate its convenience for cooking and the fact that my children liked it, so I rated it a 4.

My family isn't a fan of Sloppy Joe mix, so I decided to switch it up by using taco seasoning and spaghetti sauce with a hint of taco sauce instead. The result was delicious, and my family devoured it eagerly.
