Cook Time: 15 minutes

Smoked Sausage with Sweet Chili Garlic Sauce

This savory and sweet dish brings together the smoky flavor of sausage, the freshness of bell peppers, and the sweetness of pineapple. Perfect for a quick and flavorful meal that will satisfy your cravings in just a few easy steps.

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 ounce) package Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • cup sweet chili garlic sauce
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 3 cups cooked rice

Directions

Step 1: In a large saucepan, cook the smoked sausage and chopped bell pepper over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally, and cook until the sausage is lightly browned and the peppers are tender, about 5 minutes.

Step 2: Add the sweet chili garlic sauce and pineapple chunks to the pan. Stir well, ensuring that the sauce evenly coats the sausage and peppers. Continue to cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 3: Once the sausage is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened slightly, serve the mixture over the cooked rice. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor and texture!

Cook's Tips

  • For an extra burst of fresh flavor, stir in some chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime just before serving.
  • Sweet chili garlic sauce can be found in the Asian foods section of your local grocery store.

I regret not taking a photo of this dish. I prepared it before discovering it was already on this website. I found the recipe on the Hillshire Farm site. I first made it about a month ago and just recently gathered the ingredients to make it again. It's a straightforward recipe and results in a delicious meal. I served it over basmati rice and used a variety of colored bell peppers, giving it a visually appealing look. This dish will definitely become a regular in my household. You can easily substitute ham or chicken for the meat.

This dish is a winner! As soon as we got home, we started the rice in the rice cooker and quickly put this meal together in just a few minutes. I used Hillshire Farms Smoked Turkey sausage (delicious) and threw in some leftover sliced onions and peppers. I opted for canned pineapple chunks in juice, not syrup. In the future, I think I'll cut the sausage rounds in half or even quarters for easier eating and better browning. It was so simple to make and packed with flavor. The kids hardly had time to wash up before dinner was on the table. It was a hit with everyone!

This dish exceeded my expectations! I started by sautéing 2 cloves of minced garlic with butter to enhance the flavor, then added Eckrich turkey sausage, red pepper, and about 1/4 of a large onion. I incorporated a 20-oz can of pineapple chunks, reserved 1/2 cup of the juice, and mixed in 1 tablespoon of hoisin sauce. While I couldn't find sweet chili garlic sauce, I used sweet Thai chili sauce as a substitute. The end result wasn't exactly a sweet and sour dish, but rather a delightfully sweet dish with a hint of chili kick. I indulged shamelessly in this meal because it was simply irresistible!

I enhanced the dish with minced garlic, chopped onions, and cayenne pepper to elevate the flavors. Opted for Huy Fong Chili Garlic Sauce instead of sweet chili sauce, as the pineapple provided ample sweetness. Absolutely enjoyed it! Definitely adding it to my regular meal rotation.

I just tried this recipe and it's definitely a keeper! The combination of sausage and pineapple was a pleasant surprise for me, and now I regret not trying it sooner. It's a quick and easy dish that I served over brown rice, opting for light sausage to make it healthier. I made a few adjustments: sauteed some onions with the peppers since we love onions, used canned pineapple instead of fresh, and substituted the sauce with pineapple juice, which turned out delicious. I might even try using crushed pineapple next time!

This recipe was fantastic! I initially followed it to the letter, but found it too spicy for my taste. So, I decided to add some pineapple juice to the sauce, and it became even more delicious!

The result was excellent. I decided to add extra sauce, but apart from that, I followed the recipe as instructed.

Great! I enhanced the dish with some extra chili sauce and added fresh pineapple, which took it to the next level.
