Ingredients

  • 1 bunch broccolini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Place the broccolini in a large skillet with about 2 inches of water. Bring to a boil and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the broccolini is bright green. Drain the water.
  2. In the same skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the garlic becomes golden and fragrant.
  3. Add the cooked broccolini back into the skillet. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the broccolini is heated through.
  4. Squeeze the juice from the lemon wedge over the broccolini, and sprinkle with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper to taste. Stir to combine and serve.

I love broccolini if prepared correctly and these are nice directions. I took one more step and transferred the broccolini to an ice bath after the first two minutes of cooking to stop the cooking process. This kept it a beautiful, vibrant green.

I love the simplicity of the recipe! Plus, doing a ice cold bath after cooking it really helps big time! Serving it with roasted garlic alongside it adds more taste. Thank you for sharing! ??

when in a pinch I always use S&P Garlic with EVOO but the addition of lemon juice made it pop and I was serving it with panfried Talipia. many new cooks go right for the most ratings so lets show them simple can rate high as well.

Loved the garlic and crushed red pepper addition! I'll always steam this way! Enjoying with blackened salmon, chicken breast and mashed potatoes. Thank you for the recipe. Kimberly

Great recipe. They now have, or I just discovered, broccolini prewashed and ready to microwave in fresh produce department. So I sauteed my garlic and then nuked the broccolini as directed and added it to the garlic and oil

I saw another highly-rated recipe online that also called for lemon zest, so I added that. I trimmed about half an inch off the bottoms of the stalks. After blanching, I did an ice bath (well, really cold water) to stop the cooking process. Half a bunch was plenty just for me. I let it cook for about 3 min; it was still a little crisp, but much better than being soggy. Easy, healthy and delicious! Thanks!

Try with additional spices next time. To be added during Sautéing phase.

I love this simple and flavorful recipe - I as well blanched it before sautéing it - wonderful texture and flavor!!

My first time making broccolini (why I haven’t before now is a mystery), and it was delicious! I added a small sprinkle of everything but the bagel seasoning and my daughter added Parmesan to hers. Served with grilled steaks and roasted potatoes.

Very good and easy to make. A couple of my stocks were too thick and thus did not cook as well as thinner stocks. Being my first attempt at cooking broccolini it was a learning curve. Definitely will try again as it was a simple and tasty recipe. Will cut thicker stocks next time.

Simple and easy with a lot of flavor. I, of course, added far more garlic and I liked that. I wonder too if it would be good to cut the broccolini once it was blanched.
