My Grandmother (1868-1957) made a similar dish late 40's early 50's. my sisters and I have that recipe and still make it with slight changes. Cream of mushroom soup, 2 tsp yellow curry powder, either crushed potato chips or French's Crispy Fried Onions for the topping....mmm good. think I'll make it today!

I had to improvise and use 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup, as that is what I had on hand. I was out of sour cream, so I used mayo with a bit of lemon juice. I grilled the chicken breasts. I love French fried onions, so I used this instead of breadcrumbs. I will definitely be making this again!

A few weeks ago, I made it as it was, but only one can of cream of chicken soup, 2- bags 9oz. Purdue’s done seasoned chicken strips, broccoli, shredded cheddar, sour cream, pepper, etc. it came out great, but husband said- too much chicken. Made it Yesterday, so added just 1 package / 9 oz. Chicken cut up and instead of regular bread crumbs, I used Stovetop stuffing with butter and some water to soften it up on 1/2 and also added riced cauliflower. Other 1/2 with regular seasoned breadcrumbs and boy what a meal! Thank you for all your great dinner ideas! -Karen B. Be

I'd change this a little if I make it again. These are my thoughts- it's quite rich. I'd cut down on the canned soup and use 1 can or two of cheese soup if you can find it. Or use cream of celery. I'd also use a little water to loosen up the soup. Sour cream, take it or leave it. You could sub for yogurt. The bread crumbs, a cup and a half was way too much. It was about an inch thick. A sprinkle across the top is sufficient.

This is an excellent recipe. Ive made many versions of this, changing up the soups and bread crumbs and adding different cheeses on top with bread crumbs. The favorite one is by adding rice. It soaks up the extra liquid to avoid the soupy dish and giving a bigger meal for the extra mouths to feed. All in all, this is definitely an oldy but goody recipe.

My picky eaters loved this recipe! I added a couple splashes of chicken broth to the mixture to loosen up the condensed soup, used a lot more cheese than recipe called for, and just sprinkled the bread crumbs on top because lack of time to mix with butter. I used a fresh rotisserie chicken. Very good! I can understand why some might call it salty, but just use "less sodium" ingredients. I served it on basmati rice.

We changed this up slightly by adding a bit more broccoli and chicken, adding an extra can of chicken soup and using 1-1/2 cups miracle whip instead of sour cream. It’s amazing!! Plus it’s won best dish in several competitions.

This has quickly become a regular in my menus, when I make it I add rice right in the pan one of my cans of soup I use a Broccoli Cheese Soup or a Cheddar Cheese Soup. When its about 30 mins from being done I adda jar of cheese spread to the pan mix it around. Let it finish baking it's so much creamy, cheesy goodness!!

I used a combo of panko, fried onions, and seasoned breadcrumbs. I didn’t have any cream of chicken soup but I did have a bunch of mushrooms so I made cream of mushroom soup! So easy. Ran short on the broccoli but I think it will be ok. I thought of peas or celery but…Also added extra garlic and onion powder.

I'm vegetarian so I used mock chicken, vegetarian chicken flavoring and cream of mushroom soup. It was delicious!

This is definitely comfort food ... warm and mild. I had it over rice and that made the dish, for me. I'm not a big broccoli fan and usually don't put sour cream in my food but I wanted to experiment and branch out. I thought it would be gross, but it was pretty good! I would eat this again. I'm not putting it in my regular rotation but occasionally would be good. This would be great to take for pot lucks, too. I used leftover toasted garlic bread for the bread crumbs. That was yummy on top.

My family loves this! I will definitely make again. The only thing I changed was using Doritos nacho chips crumbled and a sprinkle of chopped green onions.. great dish!

I was afraid this dish was going to be bland but it's not, mind you I did add the garlic powder, some Dorchester and hot sauce. Good reviews and very tasty. Easy to make and I will be making this again!

Very good last minute dish I found. I cut this in half as there’s just 2 of us in the house. This is a very easy dish that you can also make your own. I used what I had left over, some cheddar cheese, habanero cheese, and some mozzarella. We didn’t have the correct topping so I used gluten free pimento cheese crackers that I had left in my pantry. 10/10. I will make this again!

Easy to prepare. I used only one can of cream of chicken soup to cut down on the sodium content of the dish. I also crushed 6-8 Ritz crackers on top of the casserole instead of using the ¼ cup of butter and bread crumbs. Avoiding the butter cuts down on the fat of the dish. I also used lite sour cream to reduce the fat.

Used rotisserie chicken, added 1/4 cup chicken broth (probably too much, may omit next time) added 1/2 onion, finely chopped. Topped with Ritz crackers instead of bread crumbs. We will use at least 3 cups of broccoli and cook for 15 minutes before adding the topping. We really like this recipe and will make again!

I substituted 1 can of chicken soup with mushroom soup. I also cut down on the cheddar cheese and added cream cheese. I used corn flake crumbs instead of bread crumbs (next time I’m going to try it using crushed Doritos).

This is great for non-cooks like myself. I was concerned about the thickness of the soups so I added some chicken broth. I used rotisserie chicken, extra pepper, onion salt and garlic salt because my food tends to come out bland. Served over white rice.
