Barbeque Bacon Chicken Bake Recipe
This mouthwatering recipe features juicy chicken breasts wrapped in crispy bacon and coated in tangy barbeque sauce. Perfect for any occasion, it's easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 8 slices of bacon
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- cup of barbeque sauce (such as Cattlemen's or Jack Daniel's)
Directions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Lightly spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the bacon slices until the edges begin to crisp, about 5 minutes. Once done, transfer the bacon to paper towels to drain excess grease.
Step 3: Take each chicken breast and wrap it with 2 slices of bacon in an X-shape, making sure the ends of the bacon are tucked underneath the chicken. Place each bacon-wrapped chicken breast into the prepared baking dish.
Step 4: Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the dish and generously brush barbeque sauce over each chicken breast.
Step 5: Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked. The juices should run clear, and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of a chicken breast should read at least 160F (70C).

I started by brining my chicken, soaking it in a bowl of warm water with a generous amount of salt for 15 minutes. After that, I rinsed and dried the chicken before seasoning it with a BBQ sauce rub that I discovered here. I also partially cooked the bacon and used my own BBQ sauce. The dish turned out to be really delicious. I rate it 4 stars because of the seasoning process, but brining the chicken breasts made them incredibly tender, almost fork-tender.

I have noticed that many people here are big fans of Sweet Baby Ray's sauce, but I personally don't understand the hype. I'm tired of the smoke-flavored thick corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, sodium benzoate, caramel color, and all the other additives that manufacturers put in these sauces. I recently discovered a small bottle of BBQ sauce called "Braswell's Molasses BBQ Sauce" at my local grocery store, which is made in Statesboro, Georgia. It doesn't contain any of those artificial ingredients, and I could immediately taste the difference when I tried it (even though I live far from Georgia). When I used it in a recipe, I microwaved some bacon for a few minutes until it just started to curl, wrapped it around chicken breasts, and poured the entire bottle of sauce over them. After baking for an hour, the dish turned out perfectly. It's a simple recipe that I will definitely make again. I served it with cheddar mashed potatoes (though cheddar biscuits would also be a great option) and sweet green peas with lots of butter.

This was definitely worth trying! The flavors were fantastic. I served it with ranch-seasoned rice.
