Homemade Pepperoni Pizza Recipe

Cook Time: 20 minutes

This delicious homemade pizza recipe is easy to make and packed with flavor! Here's how to create a pizza with a crispy crust, savory sauce, and perfectly melted cheese.

Ingredients

This recipe yields 6 servings.

Contadina Quick Pizza Sauce

  • cup water
  • (12 ounce) can CONTADINA Tomato Paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon sugar
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon black pepper

Fleischmann's Easy Pizza Crust

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or more as needed)
  • 2 (.25 ounce) envelopes FLEISCHMANN'S Pizza Crust Yeast or RapidRise Yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cups very warm water (120F to 130F)
  • cup oil

Toppings

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or more to taste)
  • 1 (6 ounce) package HORMEL Pepperoni

Directions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Grease two 12-inch pizza pans.

Step 2: Prepare the pizza sauce by whisking together the water, tomato paste, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, salt, and black pepper in a medium bowl until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3: To make the pizza crust, combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add the warm water and oil, and mix for about 1 minute until well blended.

Step 4: Gradually add the remaining flour, a little at a time, until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.

Step 5: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 4 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Add more flour as needed.

Step 6: If you're using RapidRise yeast, let the dough rest for 10 minutes, covered.

Step 7: Divide the dough into two equal portions. Lightly flour your hands and press each portion of dough into the prepared pizza pans.

Step 8: Spread a layer of pizza sauce over each pizza crust. Then, sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and top with pepperoni slices.

Step 9: Bake the pizzas in the preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, or until the crust is browned and the cheese is bubbly. For even cooking, rotate the pizza pans between the top and bottom oven racks halfway through baking.

Recipe Tips

Leftover tomato paste? You can store the unused portion in the freezer for future use!

I absolutely love this recipe for making pizza, but the sauce is just too sweet for my taste. By omitting the extra sugar in the sauce (Tomato paste is naturally sweet already), it elevates the dish from good to fantastic.

This crust was absolutely delightful! I enhanced its flavor by brushing it with garlic butter after baking, adding an extra touch of deliciousness!

Decent taste, but be careful not to overcook as it only requires 15 minutes in the oven. I found the pizza to be satisfactory, especially after adding some peppers and chili which complemented the pepperoni nicely. Would I recommend it? Yes.

Our pizza was ready in just 14 minutes and it was simply perfect!! We brushed melted butter and sprinkled Italian seasonings on the crust before baking. The sauce was wonderful and the crust turned out just right!

I've made this recipe three times now, and it has quickly become my family's go-to homemade pizza recipe. I made a couple of small tweaks to personalize it: I use 3 1/2 cups of flour instead of the 3 1/4 cups suggested, and I swap out the oregano for Italian seasoning. The result is simply delicious!

For someone who has never made homemade pizza before, I think I did a good job. The taste was great, but I believe I should knead the dough longer next time to improve the texture. There was a slightly noticeable flour taste, but overall, the crust was nice and crispy, and the sauce was delicious. I will definitely make it again.

I absolutely loved it! I only made one adjustment by adding some green onions.

We believe that water is unnecessary in the sauce. We had to decrease the amount of water used.
