Chicken Stir Fry Recipe

Cook Time: 20 minutes

This quick and easy chicken stir fry recipe is sure to become a mainstay in your weeknight dinner rotation. Here's how you can make a delicious chicken stir fry right at home:

Step 1: In a medium-sized bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and red chili flakes. Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Step 2: Add the thinly sliced chicken to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the marinade. Cover the bowl and place it in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3: While the chicken is marinating, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli, onion, carrots, water chestnuts, and green bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 5 minutes or until they are just tender. Transfer the cooked vegetables to a separate dish and set them aside.

Step 4: In the same wok or skillet, heat the remaining tablespoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken (without the marinade) and cook for about 2 minutes per side, or until the chicken is browned.

Step 5: Once the chicken is browned, stir in the cooked vegetables along with the reserved marinade. Bring the mixture to a boil, and continue cooking for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the chicken is fully cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

Step 6: Serve the chicken stir fry over a bed of steamed rice and enjoy!

Best Chicken for Stir Fry: Both chicken breasts and chicken thighs work well for stir fry dishes. Just be sure to slice the chicken into small, even pieces for even cooking.

What to Serve With Chicken Stir Fry: This dish is perfectly complete with its protein, vegetables, and rice. If you'd like to add more sides, consider serving with pork dumplings, fresh spring rolls, or hot and sour soup.

How to Store Leftovers: Keep your leftover stir fry in an airtight and store it in the fridge for up to five days. When reheating, add a splash of water to prevent the rice from drying out, and heat it in the microwave or on the stove until hot.

Recipe Notes: You can also add other vegetables like bean sprouts, snap peas, or bamboo shoots to customize your stir fry to your taste!

I followed the marinade recipe for the chicken exactly as instructed. Instead of the recommended vegetables, I opted for a bag of frozen stir fry vegetables since that was what I had available. I followed the cooking instructions precisely. The chicken turned out tender and the sauce was bursting with flavor. We absolutely adored it, and I have now found my new go-to chicken stir-fry recipe. Thank you!

Excellent stir fry! I enhanced it with a touch of oyster sauce and let the chicken marinate for around two hours. The flavors were absolutely fantastic.

This recipe is a good foundation to start with, but it lacks some depth of flavor as is. I added two tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon of chili paste, a big handful of blanched snow peas, and a teaspoon of MSG to enhance the taste. I also recommend velveting the chicken or beef for 10 minutes before stir-frying, as it truly makes a significant difference in the dish's overall flavor profile, no matter which protein you choose to use.

I prepared a delicious dish using a frozen vegetable medley of corn, peas, and carrots, along with celery, mushrooms, and chopped scallions. Marinating the chicken for 4 hours truly enhanced the flavor, and my family absolutely enjoyed it!

Tasty! I skipped the green pepper but used red, yellow, and orange peppers, pea pods, onion, and broccoli. I kept everything else the same and it turned out fantastic! I regret not taking a photo - it looked so vibrant.
