Pineapple Upside-Down Cake From Dole Recipe
Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 1 (20 ounce) can Dole Pineapple Slices
- cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 8 maraschino cherries
- 1 (9 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- cup cold water
- 1 large egg
Directions
Step 1: Gather all the ingredients to prepare the cake.
Step 2: Preheat your oven to 350F (175C). Grease an 8-inch pan with cooking spray.
Step 3: Drain the pineapple slices and set them aside.
Step 4: In the prepared pan, stir together the brown sugar and melted butter. Spread this mixture evenly over the bottom of the pan.
Step 5: Arrange the pineapple slices in a single layer over the brown sugar mixture. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple slice, and one in the center of the pan.
Step 6: In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, cold water, and egg. Beat the mixture on low speed for 30 seconds, then increase the speed to medium and beat for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
Step 7: Pour the batter evenly over the pineapple slices and cherries in the pan.
Step 8: Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Step 9: Once done, cool the cake in the pan for 5 minutes. After that, gently loosen the edges and turn the cake out onto a serving platter.
