Simple Crème Brûlée Dessert Recipe

Simple Crème Brûlée Dessert Recipe

Cook Time: 55 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons white sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar, divided

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C).
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, whisk together the heavy cream and 3 tablespoons of sugar until fully combined.
  3. Place the bowl in the microwave and heat the cream mixture for 1-2 minutes, or until warm. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
  4. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract to the mixture. Whisk until smooth and fully incorporated.
  5. Pour the cream mixture evenly into two ramekins. Place the ramekins into a roasting pan.
  6. Carefully pour hot water into the roasting pan, filling it halfway up the sides of the ramekins.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 50 minutes, or until the custard is set but still slightly wobbly in the center when shaken.
  8. Remove the ramekins from the hot water and allow them to cool. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to chill completely.
  9. Once chilled, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sugar evenly over the top of each custard.
  10. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until it is golden brown and bubbly, about 30 seconds.
  11. Let the sugar topping cool and harden before serving. Enjoy!

This creme brulee was super fast and easy and turned out to be so good, without double broiling or straining..! It made 4 servings for me because I used the shallow, 3 oz, creme brulee ramekins and it took only 30 minutes for the creme to set. I added 1 tablespoon of brown sugar to the 2 tablespoons of white sugar for better "bruling ". Also, my torch was out of butane, so I broiled the chilled creme, 6 inches away from the heat source, for 3 minutes and then put back in the fridge for 15 minutes to harden the sugar crust.

I love it! Super simple and easy! I did a half batch which I quickly regretted after eating both servings. I used Ball jars instead of ramekins though. And after I ran out of ramekins I used a ceramic bowl which really didn't change anything. I also added blueberries into the cups before baking and that really added a special taste. One more thing is I don't have a microwave so I heated it up on the stove which didn't seem to make a difference.

This is the easiest creme brulee recipe I have tried so far and it comes out perfect every time. Today I used the Instant Pot to make this recipe and it came our perfectly! 13 on low pressure, 15 on natural pressure. Wrapped each ramekin in foil to prevent sogginess. Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe!

This was a very easy recipe and it was delicious. The only change I would make is to cut back on the heavy cream and maybe use half whole milk. I personally don’t enjoy the high fat taste of heavy cream. I also cooked it in my instant pot for about 15 minutes so it was a quick recipe as well!

This was so easy and wanted to try a chocolate brulee. Add 1/4c of cocoa powder and garnish with fresh raspberry and mint. Awesome!

Super easy, just skim any froth you might get from whisking the cream off before poring into your ramekins. Mine were set in 30 minutes at 350 degrees oven temp. I did use fresh Madagascar vanilla bean instead of the extract. I let the kids torch their own, so of course it's a favorite at my house.

Great recipe. I don’t have a torch so I used a broiler for the caramelization at the end, which worked well!

This is a great , easy recipe. I multiplied it by 6, as the family was coming. I only had 2 cups whipping cream, so I used 4 cups coffee cream. They came out perfectly and only took 40 minutes in a 6 ounce ramekin. My son had 3, and my hubby keeps sneaking to the fridge. He knows how to use the torch now. I’m going to be asked to make this again.

So this recipe works quite well. I like the microwave solution for heating the cream. Be sure to use 35% whipping cream, and if you have vanilla bean at home, it adds a more interesting dimension as opposed to vanilla extract. Just shave some of the bean into the cream when heating it up.

I loved how super easy this was! I did use a fresh vanilla bean and added it to the heavy cream mixture when it was heated in the microwave. This was so delicious, my hubby even loved it.

I didn't have a torch so I just broiled it in my oven and the tops came out beautiful! Definitely would recommend this recipe.

Easy and totally delicious! I loved hearing my guests banging their spoons against the ramekins trying to get the very last bite! I have a torch but preferred the broiler b/c we like the top very crystalized and the custard slightly warm. Topped with sugared berries! Viola!

I love brulee, it's such a lovely lighter dessert. For Christmas I got a touch and made the brulee today. This recipe read super easy to follow and turned out amazingly. I did add a little almond extract with my vanill, though that was the only change. Can't wait to make again and try it with other additions such as citrus zest, etc. Thanks for a simple but fantastic recipe
