This cake was a bit more effort than I expected, but the end result was so adorable that I couldn't be happier. I decided to make a smaller version of this cake for my son's first birthday, and it was a hit with everyone, especially the birthday boy himself. I presented it on large buttercream fondant leaves that I had prepared using a recipe from this website. I skipped the coconut just in case of any allergies and used Fruity Cheerios for spots and mini-marshmallows for eyes. I added extra frosting on the back and spiked it to resemble 'fur.' If you're up for a bit of a challenge in the kitchen, this cake is a delightful project to take on.

This recipe was ideal for my two-year-old's birthday celebration! I included a box of vanilla and a box of chocolate pudding, and increased the number of eggs to 5. I mixed it all together in a mixer as per the instructions. To make it extra special, I added swirl chocolate (and white chocolate) chips...an entire bag's worth. I also decided on a very hungry caterpillar theme and used Hershey's Kisses for the caterpillar's legs. The result was absolutely adorable!
