Guinness Bread Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 cup regular rolled oats, plus more for topping
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- teaspoon salt
- cup melted butter
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle Guinness
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425F (220C) and grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, vanilla extract, buttermilk, and Guinness.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and gently stir until fully combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, and if desired, sprinkle additional oats on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 400F (200C) and bake for another 30 minutes.
- Once baked, turn off the oven, crack the door open, and let the bread cool for 30 minutes inside the oven.
- After cooling, remove the bread from the oven and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
