Dirty Diapers Recipe

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

This recipe was developed at its original yield. Ingredient amounts are automatically adjusted, but cooking times and steps remain unchanged. Note that not all recipes scale perfectly.

Original recipe (1X) yields 32 servings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 8 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 32 slices dill pickle

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F (175C).
  2. Place ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring to crumble, until the beef is no longer pink.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook, stirring, until the onion becomes tender. Drain off any excess grease.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface. Separate the dough into triangles. Then, cut each triangle in half diagonally to create two smaller triangles.
  5. Stack the slices of Cheddar cheese and cut them diagonally into four triangles.
  6. Place one triangle of cheese onto each dough triangle.
  7. Spoon about one tablespoon of the cooked ground beef over the cheese and top each with a slice of dill pickle.
  8. Fold the points of the dough towards the center like a diaper, enclosing the filling, and place each bundle onto a baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.

I believe I have perfected this recipe for our taste buds! I combined 1/2 lb ground beef with 1/2 lb ground turkey. As the meat was almost browned, I added one packet of dry onion soup mix and 1/4 cup water. Once fully browned, I mixed in 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese until melted. This really helped hold the mixture together, as another reviewer mentioned. Then, I filled 24 crescent rolls without cutting them up. Using three cans of rolls, along with 24 pickles, etc., I folded in three corners and overlapped them. Baked at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. My family absolutely adored these! The onion soup mix imparted a rich flavor, and assembling the dish was much simpler by including the shredded cheese. Give this recipe a try - I hope it turns out just as delicious for you too!

Oh my goodness, these are delicious! I just finished preparing them for my baby shower this Saturday. I had a few that didn't fold perfectly, so I ended up baking them for my lunch - they were still great! I browned 2lbs of hamburger with onions, drained it, and added taco seasoning as suggested by someone else. Instead of shredded cheese, I used 1lb of cubed Velveeta and it worked much better for me. I kept the crescents whole but removed the bottom tip, which made folding them to look like diapers much easier. I recommend making them ahead and freezing, as filling and folding can be time-consuming. We'll be serving them with homemade salsa and sour cream on Saturday. I'll share pictures then. Thanks for the recipe!

My two young boys, aged 5 and 7, absolutely loved these, and so did my husband and I. I made some adjustments to the recipe to simplify it and enhance the flavors. In addition to the cooked ground meat and diced onions, I added roughly 2 tablespoons each of ketchup, mustard, and relish. After everything was mixed and heated through, I topped it with about 3 slices of American cheese, allowing it to melt before stirring it in. This method eliminates the need to layer pickles and cheese before wrapping, making it a more convenient and delicious meal.

I enjoyed these at first, but then I had a thought...Mexican Dirty Diapers. I mixed in a packet of taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water with the browned beef and onion, and simmered it until thickened. I used Jack cheese instead of Cheddar, and replaced the pickle with a slice of pickled jalapeno. The result was delicious and everyone enjoyed it.

Great recipe! I sautéed onions in beef broth, then mixed in ground beef and a bit of cheddar cheese to bind it. Instead of halving the dough triangles, I used American cheese slices, breaking them into quarters. I layered the dough with cheese, beef mixture, pickles, and more cheese. Baked to perfection, they were delicious! They also freeze and reheat beautifully. Highly recommend!

I didn't slice the rolls but instead used ground beef, mushrooms, onions, and added shredded cheese to the frying pan to hold the filling together. Absolutely delicious! I made them as pockets to prevent any leakage. Feel free to use any filling of your choice.

This dish turned out decent. I diced the pickles and mixed them with the ground beef, added a splash of ketchup, spread some mustard on the crescent rolls, and topped it all off with shredded cheese. It was a simple and fast recipe, and I might consider making it again.

These burgers reminded me of the sliders from White Castle. My husband absolutely enjoyed them, although the kids weren't as keen on them.
