Review Rewritten: I've made this recipe numerous times and have customized it to create what I believe is the ultimate nacho experience! While I'd rate this recipe at 4 stars as is, I found the chicken mixture a bit bland and desired additional toppings like olives and jalapenos. Here are my personal tips and tweaks for achieving the perfect chicken nachos: 1. Opt for rotisserie chicken or cook your own chicken breast instead of using canned chicken or pre-cooked packaged chunks, as they can alter the flavor and texture. 2. Shred the chicken rather than chopping it for a smoother and more melt-in-your-mouth texture. 3. Enhance the flavor by adding taco seasoning or your preferred spice blend to the sautéed onions generously to coat the chicken. 4. Alongside the chicken, mix in rinsed canned black beans and frozen corn kernels for added texture and sweetness. Avoid using southwestern-style salsa with these ingredients, as they might not offer the desired contrasts. 5. Pre-bake the tortilla chips for about 5 minutes before adding the chicken mixture to maintain their crispiness. 6. Don't skimp on toppings! I love adding sliced black olives, plenty of jalapenos, and tomatoes. Sometimes I throw in diced green or red bell peppers for an extra crunch. For the perfect nachos, serve with a dollop of sour cream and enjoy!

Combining salsa with chicken falls short of achieving authentic restaurant-style chicken nachos. A touch of additional spices would greatly enhance the flavor profile.

Following the recommendations from other reviews, I decided to bake the chips topped with cheese before adding other toppings and finishing the baking process.
