Cook Time: 15 minutes
Pea Puree for Babies
This simple and nutritious pea puree is a great option for introducing solid food to your baby. It's easy to make and perfect for freezing in individual portions for later use.
Ingredients
- 3 cups frozen peas
- cup breast milk
Directions
- Place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring the water to a boil.
- Add the peas, cover the saucepan, and steam the peas until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Transfer the steamed peas and breast milk into a blender or food processor. Puree until smooth and creamy.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any lumps, ensuring a silky texture.
- Spread the pea puree into an ice cube tray. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze until solid, about 2 to 3 hours.
- Once frozen, transfer the cubes to a resealable plastic bag and store them in the freezer for future use.
- To serve, heat the frozen cubes in the microwave for about 30 seconds, or until warm but not hot. Stir thoroughly before serving.
Cooks Note
You can use fresh peas instead of frozen ones if available. If you prefer, substitute formula or water for the breast milk.
Frozen cubes can be stored in the freezer for up to 2 months.
